Best Day Trips From Seoul With Kids: A Local Parent’s Guide

Last Updated on April 26, 2026

Seoul has so many great things to do with kids from museums to kids cafes and parks in between, but sometimes you just want a bigger adventure, a more open space, or a place that feels a little more out of the way, special even. Day trips from Seoul with kids can be absolutely worth it. The Seoul subway system is massive and far reaching into the suburbs so sometimes you can get out a lot easier than you ever realized.

I’ve seen a lot of lists that just throw every nearby attraction together, but as a parent raising a child here, I think about things a little differently. Can we get there easily? Is it worth the travel time? Will my kid actually enjoy it, or is it just “interesting” on paper? Can we pair it with food, a cafe, or a second stop to make the day flow?

As a parent raising a child in Korea, these are the kinds of places I keep in mind when we want a weekend plan that feels different from our usual Seoul rhythm. Some are easy, low-effort outings. Some are full-day adventures. Some are seasonal. All worth considering when you’re ready to go beyond Seoul.

Jangheung Gana Art Park, Seoul, Korea

This guide focuses on the best places to go near Seoul with kids, from amusement parks and children’s museums to caves, aquariums, flower parks, farm experiences, and outdoor art spaces. If you’ve already been through all of the great things to do with kids in Seoul, these are your next adventures.

The Monet Garden (모네정원)

Run by a family who were inspired by the outdoor nature play areas in England, Monet Garden is a small farm where kids can just play in natural surroundings. Best Animal Day Trips From Seoul With Kids

Alpaca World (알파카월드)

Alpaca World is not the easiest place to get to and requires a car for sure, but it is fun if you have animal-loving kids. This park is on the side of a mountain so there is a lot of walking up and down and there are more than just alpacas here though there are at least three different spots to feed or see alpacas. There are also birds, deer, sheep, bunnies, donkeys, and so many more animals. Just be prepared for the climb and descent.

  • Best for: elementary-age and energetic younger kids
  • Address: 146-155 Deokbatjae-gil, Hwachon-myeon, Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do (강원 홍천군 화촌면 덕밭재길 146-155)

  • Admission: W18,000; Walk with the alpacas: Additional W15,000

Aqua Planet Ilsan, Ilsan, Korea

Aqua Planet Ilsan (아쿠아플라넷 일산)

If you’re on the west side of Seoul or just want an aquarium day that is not in the middle of the city, Aqua Planet Ilsan is a fantastic option. We’ve been multiple times and it’s one of those places that tends to work no matter the weather.

Gapyeong Sheep Farm (가평양떼목장)

Gapyeong is home to a number of sheep and goat farms which you can visit to feed the animals and enjoy the space of fields with views. The Gapyeong Sheep Farm is a part rustic farm and chic glass cafe making it equally charming and fun.

  • Best for: toddlers and older
  • Address: 1209 Yumyeong-ro, Seorak-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do (경기 가평군 설악면 유명로 1209)
  • Hours: Cafe hours are from 10:00am ~ 7:00pm but if you want to feed animals, visit between 10:00am ~ 5:40pm
  • Admission: Feeding Experience only: W8,000; Feeding experience and drink: W13,000

One of my favorite parts about raising a child in Seoul is realizing that the city is just the starting point. Some of the best days we’ve had haven’t been in Seoul at all, but just outside it. You don’t need to do everything. Just pick one place that fits your child, your energy, and the season. That’s usually more than enough.
