To All The Boys: Always and Forever & Where They Went In Seoul
The third and final installment of ‘To All The Boys’ went live last night, February 12th, and of course I was watching. The film titled ‘To All The Boys: Always And Forever’ kicks off with Lara Jean’s family traveling to Seoul, Korea and of course as someone who lives here, I was stoked to see so many places I recognized.
Their whirlwind trip to the capital of Korea will make anyone who hasn’t visited want to come, and anyone who has been want to revisit. Want to follow in Lara Jean’s footsteps, see Seoul and be inspired by travel? Here are the places in Seoul shown in the movie ‘To All The Boys: Always and Forever’ so that you can go too.

To All The Boys Background Information
To All The Boys is a romantic comedy featuring Lana Condor as the main actress. The franchise is based on the book by the same name written by Jenny Han and released in 2014.
The movies follow the shy high school junior Lara Jean Covey who has written letters to the boys she has loved. She stashed the letters away in a box only for her little sister to find them and mail them off. Suddenly all of Lara Jean’s loves come to find her and she ends up actually dating, well fake dating to make someone else jealous, one of them. You’ll have to find out who she ends up with and follow the trajectory through the three movies though. I won’t spoil the fun. And, it is quite adorably fun.

Where They Filmed In Seoul, Korea
They made their way all around the city of Seoul albeit at a fast pace for just the intro of the film. It was enough, though, for me and other Seoulites to spot our favorite areas in the city. Here are the spots you won’t want to miss when you travel to Seoul!
Greem Cafe
The sisters start off at a popular café in Seoul that went viral a few months after it opened. Greem Café is known for its quirky 2D design which makes any visitor feel as if they’ve stepped into a cartoon world reminiscent of ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’… I say that, and then I think that might really age me. Anyway, this cool café is in the popular Yeonnam-dong district of Seoul and anyone can visit. Learn more about Yeonnam-dong and Greem Cafe here.
Myeongdong
The hottest shopping district in Seoul is (usually when not in Covid times) packed with people either stopping into the numerous international and local brand shops, finding cool cafes to take a break in or getting in some good eats. It’s an absolutely must see for any visitor to Seoul. Learn more about Myeongdong Shopping District here and definitely enjoy all of the amazing street food vendors while you’re there.
Yeouido Han River Park
Yeouido Han River park is one of the, if not THE, most popular Han River Parks for tourists and locals especially in the spring when the cherry blossoms are blooming. Lara Jean and her sisters cycle along the banks of the river and stop to see the biggest ‘I Seoul U’ sign in the city.
Gwangjang Market
Gwangjang Market is one of my absolutely favorite traditional markets to visit in the city. There is a ton of good local food to enjoy and upstairs is an awesome vintage clothing and Hanbok market too. Lara Jean and her family head to the market and happen to sit at the most popular vendor, who was also featured in a Netflix show about food to eat in Seoul, and enjoy hand made noodles and dumplings.
If you go to Gwangjang Market, make sure you know where to go and what to order.
Bongeunsa Temple
There are numerous Buddhist temples in Seoul’s city limits but Bongeunsa Temple in the popular Gangnam District is one of the most popular for tourists to visit. Within walking distance of COEX, the largest underground shopping mall in Asia, it’s an easy stop to add onto an itinerary. It’s also extremely beautiful and peaceful.
Dongdaemun Design Plaza
Dongdaemun Design Plaza, also referred to as the DDP, is one of the coolest architectural wonders to see in Seoul. There are numerous exhibitions that happen at this cultural space, including most recently the Teamlab: LIFE exhibition, as well as restaurants and cafes too. Fashion shows make the place buzz but fashionistas can be seen there year round getting cool photos.
Korean Sauna
One of those quintessential experiences that one must have when visiting Korea is a stop into a Korean spa and sauna. Lara Jean and her sisters can be seen wearing the lamb head towels in one of the scenes. There are some really amazing ones like Busan’s Spa Land, or more natural healing ones like Donghae’s Mureung Health Forest Sauna but there are also local ones in all of the districts of the city of Seoul.
If you plan to go, make sure you know the Korean bath house etiquette.. yes, you will be nude… but you don’t have to if you don’t want to.
Seoul Sky Tower
As the tallest building in Korea, it’s absolutely a must see. Seoul Sky Tower has just epic views out over the city. You will even be higher than the helicopters flying around Seoul. Enjoy the artistic exhibition as you wait to head up in the fast fast elevator and then be stunned by not one, but multiple floors of observatory views, an outdoor sky deck and those glass floors that will leave you gasping for breath if you’re afraid of heights. Don’t look down.. just look out.
N Seoul Tower
While Lotte’s Seoul Sky Tower may be the tallest building in Korea, N Seoul Tower on Namsan Mountain is still the more romantic stop for visitors and locals. Lara Jean and her family head up to the tower to find the lovelock that her mother placed there years before. You can do that too. Place a lovelock on the fences around the tower, I mean.
Then go up to the observatory and enjoy the views. I recommend visiting before sunset so you can see the city during the day and then watch as the sun sets and the lights come on across the capital of Korea.
