It’s spring in Korea and everyone awaits the coming of the fluffy white cherry blossoms to truly celebrate the season. Cherry blossoms bloom in Korea from the end of March starting down on Jeju Island so everyone in Seoul waits as they watch the photos online from cities across the nation until finally, the trees in Seoul burst into fluffy white and pink floral beauties.

There are some super popular cherry blossom spots, hidden gems, and everything in between in Seoul. Literally, you can see cherry blossoms all over the city so don’t think you must head to the “must see” spots. Enjoy any cherry blossom scenery you find here, there, and everywhere. Where To See Cherry Blossoms In Seoul

1 Yeouido (여의도)

There are 1,886 cherry blossom trees that line the western end of Yeouido Island making for a beautiful area to stroll. Each year, traffic is halted in this area and the most popular cherry blossom festival in Seoul, the Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival, is hosted. A lot of people plan to have a picnic at the Yeouido Han River Park after they see the flowers. Do the same.

• How To Get There: You can access the area via National Assembly Subway Station, or Yeouinaru Subway Station. Note that because traffic is halted in the area for the festival, buses that usually go here are rerouted, so check routes before taking a bus.

Local Tip: Make the day in Yeouido even better with a ride on the SEOULDAL to take in the views from above or enjoying a ride on an ELand Cruise which docks nearby. There are a lot of great things to do in Yeouido.

2 Seoul Children’s Grand Park (서울어린이대공원)

Considered one of the most impressive places to see cherry blossoms in Seoul, Children’s Grand Park has it all including grassy fields for picnics. This public park in Gwangjin-gu has an amusement park , botanical garden, musical fountain, and of course lots and lots of cherry blossom trees to see. Stroll beneath the flowering trees and see the other park highlights while you’re there.

• How To Get There: Children’s Grand Park Subway Station, exit 1 or 2.

Local Tip: Did you know after these iconic light pink cherry blossoms bloom, you can find gorgeous and fluffy double cherry blossoms? Just as beautiful but pinker and fluffier, a lot of people don’t realize they bloom a bit later, so if your trip isn’t just right for these blooms, you can still see the king cherry blossoms!

3 Seokchon Lake (석촌호수)

Another popular cherry blossom festival in Seoul is hosted at Seokchon Lake in the Jamsil area of the city. The Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival (석촌호수 벚꽃축제) is hosted next to the Lotte Tower, the tallest building in the country. It can get busy, so go early in the morning if you want to visit with the least number of people. Stop in for the flowers, but stay to see the amazing views from the tallest building in Korea nearby.

• How To Get There: Jamsil Subway Station, exit 2 or 3 and walk straight.

Local Tip: Head up to Seoul Sky in Lotte Tower for amazing views, or have tea time or maybe champagne are Bar 81 at Signiel Hotel in the tower. The views are gorgeous from above.

4 Seoul Forest (서울숲)

Feed deer and visit the butterfly garden in between walking beneath the beautiful fluttering white and pale pink petals of the cherry blossoms. Take a blanket and food for a picnic and stay the whole day in this massive park and then if you’re hungry, head into Seongsu-dong, the Brooklyn of Seoul.

• How To Get There: Seoul Forest Subway Station and take exit 3 or 4.

Local Tip: After enjoying the flowers, head to Seongsu-dong for pop-ups, the largest Olive Young in Korea, Amore Seongsu, or have a whipping experience at WHIPPED.

5 Dream Forest (북서울꿈의숲)

The fourth largest park in Seoul, Dream Forest is in northern Seoul and though surrounded by dense forest, is rather empty in the park except for the outstanding number of cherry blossom trees that circle the open lawns. Follow the cherry blossom lined path and make a loop around the park before heading up to the observatory to get the views from above.

• How To Get There: Head to Miasageori Subway Station and go out of exit 1. Walk north to the first intersection and turn right. The road will take you right into the park.

6 Namsan Mountain (남산)

Namsan Mountain should need no introduction, but just in case, the mountain is a gorgeous cherry blossom covered mountain come spring. Right downtown and easy to get to, it’s a popular spot to find the flowers and take a cable car ride up to Namsan Tower while you’re there.

• How To Get There: Myeongdong Subway Station, exit 2 or 3 and then you’ll want to follow signs up to the cable car or hop in a taxi and ask them to take you up.

7 Bulgwang Stream (불광천)

When we moved to Eunpyeong-gu, I never realized how picturesque the stream near us was until that first spring came of course. The entire stream is lined on both sides with cherry blossom trees that cover the sidewalk like a tunnel. It’s amazingly gorgeous when in peak bloom and it’s just the locals enjoying them quietly.

• Address: 478 Jeungsan-ro, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul (서울 은평구 증산로 478)
  • *The stream stretches for some length. This is an address at a good entry point from which to walk along.
• How to get there: Go to Eungam Station and go out of exit 4.

Local Tip: Find the nearest stream to you and see what you can find! You might be surprised just like we were. So many of the streams, small and large in Seoul are lined with cherry blossom trees.

8 Anyang Stream (안양천)

This stream is a gorgeous place to take a stroll in the spring. It can be crowded at times, but since it’s a long walking path, you can usually get some great alone time on the path that stretches for quite a long distance. Visit as the cherry blossom petals fall and it’s pretty magical. They made me dance and I’m sure they’ll make you dance too.

• How to get there: The stream stretches from the Han River and continues south. Head to Omokgyo Station and take exit 5 to find a good spot to join and walk as far north or south as you’d like.

9 Jeongdok Library (정독도서관)

In the heart of the Bukchon/Anguk district, Jeongdok Library becomes a popular spot to take photos each spring. Established as a place to provide Seoulites and visitors with a space to study and enjoy books, the library is one of the major libraries of the city’s public library system. It’s a hidden gem to most tourists even though it’s one of the most touristy districts of the city.

• How to get there: Go out of Anguk Station exit 1 and follow the road north to find the library.

10 Hapjeong (합정)

There are some very scenic streets just near Hapjeong Station. They have become extremely popular for quiet… yet busy strolls each spring. Hapjeong is one of those areas that sees a lot of action at night, but is really nice and quiet in the mornings, so plan your visits properly to take in the flowers.

• How to get there: Head out exit 5 of Hapjeong Station and turn right on the first alleyway and you’ll be on Yanghwa-ro 6-gil

11 Ansan Mountain (안산)

Near Hongje Stream (Hongjecheon 홍제천) a waterfall is the first sight to view and that is just the beginning of the great sights to behold on Ansan Mountain. On the hillside just behind the waterfall sits all of these beautiful cherry blossom trees and the crowds were not nearly as large as you’d expect for a grove this beautiful.

• Address: Bongwon-dong Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (서울특별시 서대문구 봉원동)
• How to get there: From Hongik Subway Station, go out of exit 4 and turn right and go around and go up to the corner. Cross the street in a northerly direction to find a bus stop and you can take bus 110A or 153. Travel to the 6th stop, Seodaemun Center which is just 9 minutes and then get off. Continue walking in the direction that the bus was headed. When you come to a bridge over a stream, find the path down and follow it north to the waterfall and cherry blossoms.

Local Tip: If you’re visiting with kids, head to the Seodaemun Natural History Museum on the mountain as well. It’s fantastic and will be an all around good day in the area.

12 Seonyudo Island (선유도)

Seonyudo Park sits on an island on the Han River in Seoul, Korea between Hapjeong and Dangsan and is one of the best kept secrets in Seoul. The island, only accessible by foot bridge, walking, or bus, used to house a water treatment plant but in the effort to bring green space back to Seoul, it was released back to nature.

Seonyudo Island blooms and does it rather quietly. Somehow being in the middle of the Han River makes it a bit of a hidden gem that people just pass by without realizing they can visit to see cherry blossoms.

• Address: 95 Yanghwa-dong Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul (영등포구 양화동  95)
• How to get there: Take subway line 2 to Dangsan Station (exit #1), then take a bus (605, 6623, 6631, 6632, 6633) and get off at Hanshin Apts. Cross over the Rainbow Bridge. Or, take subway line 9 to Seonyudo Station (exit #1) and walk until the large intersection. Take a right and walk towards the river. Eventually you’ll see the ramp spanning the freeway to Rainbow Bridge.

13 Seoul National Cemetery (국립서울현충원)

Might seem like an odd place to enjoy cherry blossom trees, but Seoul National Cemetery is one of Seoul’s most beautiful sites when the pink cherry blossoms bloom. The Seoul National Cemetery is where people who dedicated their lives for Korea are buried. It is a memorial site for patriots and veterans so be respectful if you choose to visit here. The cemetery is home to the popular weeping willow-like cherry blossoms.

14 Gyeongchun Line Railroad Forest (경춘선숲길)

Picture historic trains and cherry blossoms and that’s what you’ll get at Gyeongchun Line Railroad Forest. The railroad line that was shut down in 2010 is now a 6.3km long Seoul Urban Regeneration Project that allows pedestrians to walk from Kwangwoon University Station to old Hwarangdae Station. It’s beautiful and perfect if you live in northern Seoul.
