Where To See Double Cherry Blossoms in Korea (Those Fluffy Pink Spring Blooms)

Last Updated on April 13, 2026

As the spring air fills South Korea with its temperate embrace, a particular spectacle of nature, you know the one I speak of, draws both locals and travelers from out of their homes and into the streets. The light pink cherry blossoms burst into bloom and crowds rush to see them. While these iconic light pink cherry blossoms are gorgeous, there’s another cherry blossom bloom that I personally look forward to: the double cherry blossom (겹벚꽃).

Distinguished from their single-petaled counterparts, double cherry blossoms boast lavish, deep pink petals that unfurl in double layers, creating a fuller, more opulent display. They also bloom a bit later than the more popular light pink cherry blossoms so if you missed those, you can still catch these!

What Are Double Cherry Blossoms?

Double cherry blossoms (겹벚꽃) are a variety of cherry tree that produce blossoms with multiple layers of petals, giving them a fluffy and fuller appearance compared to standard cherry blossoms. They usually bloom 1 to 2 weeks after the main cherry blossom season, often in mid to late April in Korea.

Because their dense petals and deeper pink color, they are often considered the most dramatic cherry blossoms to photograph.

Where to Find King Cherry Blossoms in Korea

Each year during spring in Korea, I look forward to the fluffy pink bloom of the double cherry blossom in Korea. To say that I’ve traveled across the country to see them is not an overstatement. But, I’ve also found some beautiful blooming trees right here in Seoul, too.

Here are the must-visit destinations for those chasing the double cherry blossoms in Korea. Get ready for an adventure.

Double Cherry Blossoms in Seoul

World Cup Park, Seoul (월드컵공원)

As my avid readers know, the World Cup Park in Seoul is my favorite park in the city. It’s one of the best parks in Seoul and yet still manages to be underrated by so many. This massive park is actually made up of five individual parks so if you head here to find double cherry blossoms, you’ll want to go to Nanji Stream Park to find them.

Boramae Park, Seoul (보라매공원)

Another good option in Seoul is Boramae Park, once the grounds of the Air Force Academy, it’s now a beautiful park for locals. If you live in the southern part of Seoul, head to Boramae Park in Dongjak-gu to look for double cherry blossoms blooming.

Misari Speedboat Park, Hanam (미사리 경정공원)

If you live on the eastern side of Seoul, your best bet for King cherry blossoms might be the Misari Speedboat Park. This area was the site for the rowing competitions for the Asian Games and Olympics, but now is most popular with locals for the rows of double cherry blossoms that line the paths.

Jayu Park, Incheon (자유공원)

One of the oldest Western-style parks in Korea, Jayu Park sits on a hill in the Jung-gu area of Incheon with views over Incheon’s historic port. The double cherry blossoms here bloom along the park’s walking paths and because Jayu Park is less famous for cherry blossoms than the Seoul spots, the crowds are far more manageable. Combine with a visit to nearby Incheon Chinatown just downhill, which is at its best in spring.
