Last Updated on April 19, 2026

If you’re curious about K-beauty, chances are Olive Young is on your list of places to check out when you visit Seoul. What started out as Korea’s first health and beauty store by the CJ Group in 1999 has evolved in to not only a locally known health and beauty general store, but is now a hotspot for tourists and so opening the Olive Young N Seongsu (올리브영N 성수) in one of the most popular districts of Seoul was just a matter of time.

Besides being the largest Olive Young in Korea, what sets Olive Young N Seongsu apart are the free, personalized consultation experiences available on each floor. The staff are trained specialists, many with beauty certifications, and consultations are tailored to your skin type, concerns, and even your home country’s climate and seasons.

The catch: reservations are competitive. Read the planning tips below before you go. And before you even step inside, the broader Seongsu-dong neighborhood is one of the best in Seoul, read the complete Seongsu-dong guide for cafes, restaurants, and other K-beauty stops worth combining with your visit.

Why Olive Young N Seongsu Is Different

Not just the largest Olive Young, but it was created to be an intentional health and beauty space. Since opening, the store has drawn close to 10,000 visitors per day, with international shoppers making the majority of sales. What people come for isn’t just products, but insight. Visitors want to know what Koreans actually use, how routines work, and which tools or ingredients matter.

The concept behind the “N” in Olive Young N stands for New, Next, Nest, and Network. The store acts as a testing ground for trends, a playground for beauty lovers, and a hub connecting brands, creators, and customers.

One useful thing to know before you go: The reason international shoppers dominate here is that locals prefer their smaller, quieter neighborhood Olive Young stores. Olive Young N Seongsu is absolutely worth visiting, but if you want a calmer browsing experience after this one, find a local branch in whatever neighborhood you’re staying in, the contrast is instructive.

Floor-by-Floor Guide

Planning tip before you start: If you want to book any of the consultation experiences on Floors 2 or 3, go directly to that floor first when you arrive. On-site reservations open at 11:00am but lines form earlier. Book your experience slot, then come back down and explore from the beginning. Don’t leave the experience booking until after you’ve spent time on Floor 1, they fill up fast, particularly on weekends.

1st Floor: N. Playground

The ground floor is closer to an exhibition space than a shop. Open areas, rotating installations, and pop-ups replace the crowded shelf format of a typical Olive Young. I’ve visited to find slides, a traditional Korean first birthday (Dol) photo installation, and other immersive setups. The content changes regularly so there’s always something different.

The Trend Fountain is a digital exhibition showcasing Olive Young’s in-house beauty trend magazine. Toward the back is the Corner Goods Shop, selling Olive Young-exclusive souvenirs: eco-bags, lifestyle items, and branded goods you can’t get at other branches.

There’s also a small cafe running rotating K-beauty brand collaboration menus, not a generic coffee shop, but a curated menu that changes with each partnering brand. Pop-ups on this floor often have waitlists. Staff will take your phone number when you join the queue so you don’t have to stand in line so get a drink at the cafe and sit nearby until your turn comes.

Pro Tip: Don’t hesitate to ask staff anything. Live translation devices covering 16 languages are available throughout the store.

2nd Floor: Beauty & Culture

This is where most visitors spend the most time. Color makeup dominates the space with wide testing stations and real-time displays showing top-reviewed products. Around 160 brands are represented, including Simihaze Beauty, Aveda, and Santa Maria Novella, all exclusive to this branch and not available at other Olive Young locations.

Free experiences on Floor 2 — on-site reservation only:

  • Find Your Color (30 minutes): Work with a beauty consultant to identify your ideal color palette. Useful whether you’re a makeup novice or want a professional take on what suits your undertone and features.
  • Quick Touch-Up Bar (15 minutes): Lip, eye, brow, and base, a consultant walks you through the current trends and which work for you specifically.
  • Eyebrow Bar (15 minutes) — men only: A dedicated consultation creating the right brow shape for your face. One of the few beauty experiences in Seoul specifically designed for men.

The Perfume Library is also on this floor, typically quieter than the makeup sections. It carries niche and luxury fragrances not usually stocked at standard Olive Young locations. Take your time here if fragrance is part of your interest.

Pro tip: Weekends are busiest. Arrive early for easier experience booking and more elbow room at the testing stations.

In one corner of this floor, you’ll also find a K-pop pop-up shop K-Pop Now as well as a make-your-own keychain or bag station called the Hot & New Express. If you or your children have a stop at Wappen on their lists of things to do in Seoul, you can have them loiter around here while you check out some of the beauty goods.

3rd Floor: Skin & Wellness

Floor 3 is quieter and more educational in atmosphere. Products are organized by skin concern rather than by brand, which makes a genuine difference when you’re new to K-beauty and don’t know which brand names to look for. If you have a specific concern (dryness, acne, pigmentation, sensitivity), the layout helps you find relevant products across multiple brands in one section.

The Ingredients Bar is one of the standout areas: a dedicated space where you can learn what ingredients like retinol, vitamin C, collagen, and glutathione actually do and how they work in skincare. More substance than a typical product display.

Free experiences on Floor 3:

  • Skin Fit Studio (15 minutes) — on-site reservation only: Professional diagnostic equipment is used alongside a beauty consultant to analyze your skin and scalp concerns before you shop. Practical and specific.
  • Home Care Lessons (70 minutes) — pre-register online: The most comprehensive experience available. A beauty consultant walks you through your daily skin concerns with enough time to actually educate you on a full routine. Because it requires an online reservation rather than on-site booking, it’s also the experience that’s easiest to secure in advance. -> Pre-register online

The wellness section on this floor also carries sleep aids, teas, supplements, and health drinks, worth a look if you’re interested in the broader Korean wellness approach alongside the skincare.

Pro Tip: Don’t rush. Olive Young N Seongsu is 8.6 times larger than a normal Olive Young store so take your time and plan for at least an hour and a half for your visit if you really want to see everything.

4th Floor: N. Connect (Members Only)

Not accessible to general visitors. This lounge and networking space is reserved for Olive Young Gold members and Hyundai Card holders. It also houses a professional content studio used by beauty creators and brand partners. You won’t be going in, but it’s worth knowing about: it illustrates how Olive Young positions itself as infrastructure for the broader K-beauty ecosystem, not just a retailer.

What To Do Nearby After Shopping

Seongsu-dong is known as the Brooklyn of Seoul, the pop-up capital of the city, and there is plenty to hop around between to enjoy it all. From more beauty stops like WHIPPED House, Amore Seongsu, fwee, Torriden, and so many more flagship stores to murals and cafes, you can spend the whole day in Seongsu-dong.

FAQ

The store is 8.6 times larger than a standard Olive Young. If you want to see all four floors properly, budget at least 90 minutes. Can I just shop without booking any experiences?

Absolutely. The experiences are optional add-ons. The experiences are worth doing if they align with your interests, but they’re not required.

Floor 2 has color makeup consultations (Find Your Color, Quick Touch-Up Bar, Eyebrow Bar for men). Floor 3 has skincare consultations (Skin Fit Studio and Home Care Lessons). All are free. Floors 2 and 3 experiences require on-site reservation, Home Care Lessons require advance online booking.

The Corner Goods Shop on Floor 1 sells Olive Young-branded merchandise (eco-bags, lifestyle items) only available here. The Perfume Library carries niche and luxury fragrances not stocked at standard locations.

Is Olive Young N Seongsu good for people new to K-beauty?

Particularly good. Floor 3’s organization by skin concern rather than brand makes it much easier to navigate without prior brand knowledge. The Ingredients Bar explains what active ingredients actually do. The consultation experiences are specifically designed to educate as well as recommend, and they account for your home country’s climate, which standard skincare advice rarely does.

Olive Young N Seongsu is worth building time around, not just stopping into. The consultations are free, the staff are experts, and the product range, particularly the exclusives not available elsewhere, makes it more than a flagship version of a familiar store. Arrive early, book your experience first, then explore.
