Last Updated on April 6, 2026

While the beaches in Jeju, with their white and black sands and crystal-clear waters, may have lured you here, it’s the cafes in Jeju that will make you linger. Imagine sipping your coffee with the sound of waves crashing in the background, gazing out at lush citrus orchards, serene green tea fields, or even a far-off oreum. It’s like every cup of coffee comes with its own postcard-worthy view.

East Coast Jeju Cafes (Seongsan and Gujwa Area)

orrrn (오른), Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do, Korea; cafe

orrrn (오른)

I happened to be walking on the Jeju Olle-gil when I came upon this cafe just in time for a cup of coffee with a snack. This modern building is beautifully designed and fittingly has all of the seats facing out towards the beautiful ocean views. Pastries were delicious to top it off, though I didn’t try that corn-topped one.

Fritz Coffee Company (프릳츠 제주성산점)

Fritz Coffee Company has four stores in Seoul, and its fifth location is nicely situation in Seongsan, on Jeju Island. The Jeju Seongsan store is located in the renovated Baengnok Hoegwan building, which was once a store selling Jeju seafood such as sliced raw abalone, cutlassfish, and red tilefish.

Sit inside and watch the waves lap on the rocks, see the trekkers on the Jeju Olle-gil, and then head to the rooftop for an amazing view of Seongsan Ilchulbong. Fritz coffee is always good, even better when you’re in a Fritz coffee house.

Cafe Ri (카페리)

I found this cafe when I was trekking on the Jeju Olle-gil and knew I needed to come back, not only for cute cats, but also for the cute jiggly cat dessert, that is not just cute, it was surprisingly delicious. This is the perfect cafe for a little quiet time with some cats and it’s just steps from the beach.

matiere (마티에르)

In stark contrast to the black lava rocks that you see everywhere in Jeju, matiere has this all creamy white motif from exterior to interior. It’s one of those cafes that is cozy in the winter and cool in the summer, where you can sit with a book and read quietly and comfortably.

cafe ooo (카페아오오)

Out of the Ordinary is a beautiful cafe with outdoor and indoor seating. While everyone else headed upstairs to sit beneath the picturesque hanji paper that hangs from the ceiling, we opted for the seating downstairs where we could listen to the waves. Great coffee and a quiet cafe upstairs if you want a spot to do some work.

The Season (그계절)

Very friendly and lovely rustic vibe at The Season. This quickly became one of our favorite cafes when we stopped in, looked at the menu and realized there wasn’t any food appropriate for a toddler. The cafe owner quickly whipped up a simple toast with jam without qualm and gave it to us on the house. If you’ve lived in Korea, you know how difficult it can be to go off menu or even adapt a menu item.

Another cafe on the seaside that stood out when I was doing my Jeju Olle-gil trek, Seal Espresso has just the right touches of color that play off of the everchanging colors of the skies outside. If you’re planning to pick tangerines when you’re visiting Jeju, which you should, you’ll also come across cafes that cater to the tangerine lovers that may not want to take a whole bag home with them. Cafe Container sits inside a working citrus orchard in the Jocheon area, which means your coffee comes with a view of orange trees in every direction. The drinks are citrus-forward: fresh-squeezed tangerine juice, citrus lattes, and seasonal specials that change as the harvest does.

So Much More

The dessert is what caught our eye and it will catch your eye too. A kind of cake with what appears to be some noodles that are actually made from icing, it wasn’t overwhelmingly sweet like so many desserts in Korea, but was delightfully delicious. The staff are super friendly and the space is comfortable. Stop here for a dessert before taking a walk along the water.

West Jeju Cafes (Aewol and Hallim Area)

Haehwatang, Jeju cafe, Jeju, Korea

Haehwatang (해화탕)

Mist fills the air and suddenly it’s like you’re in a foggy field and all you can hear is the clinking of the dishes in the pond in the center, but you can’t see them. And just a few minutes later, the mist clears and you watch as the floating bowls make circles before you. Meditate, contemplate, take your time in this unique bathhouse-themed cafe.

Sebil (새빌)

We visited this cafe when the pink muhly was at it’s pinkest. Once an abandoned hotel, now a cafe, it is anything but abandoned now. It is popular, so much so that the pastries were almost gone when we arrived. The cafe perches picturesquely on a hilltop that looks out to nearby oreums. It’s beautiful, but do expect crowds of people.

Lazy Pump (레이지펌프)

One of our favorite stops in the Aewol area is Lazy Pump. It’s intriguingly beautiful with a rustic appeal. It used to be a fish farm and now has a bit of a grungy but cool vibe. From here you can take a walk along the waters edge. We liked the out of the way feeling when we were there.

  • Hours: Every day: 9:00am ~ 8:00pm

FAQ

Do I need a car to visit Jeju cafes?

For the vast majority of the cafes on this list, yes. Jeju’s public bus system covers the main towns but most of the scenic rural cafes have no bus stop nearby. Renting a car is the standard approach for visitors who want flexibility.

What should I order at a Jeju cafe?

Anything citrus-based. Jeju grows most of Korea’s tangerines (and hallabong, a large sweet citrus variety) and the best Jeju cafes feature local fruit in their seasonal drinks. Gyul latte (tangerine latte), fresh-squeezed tangerine juice, and hallabong cake are all worth ordering if you see them. The green tea menu is also strong at many cafes given Jeju’s tea fields.

Which Jeju cafes have the best ocean views?

orrrn in Seongsan is hard to beat with every seat facing the water. Fritz Coffee Company has a rooftop view of Seongsan Ilchulbong. cafe ooo (Out of the Ordinary) has both upstairs hanji-ceiling seating and downstairs ocean-side seating. No Vacation sits right at the edge of Pyoseon Beach.

Which cafes are near Seongsan Ilchulbong?

Fritz Coffee Company is the closest. It’s essentially adjacent to the trail entrance in a beautifully converted building. orrrn and cafe ooo are also within a short drive. This makes the Seongsan area one of the easiest for cafe-hopping on a single morning.

Are Jeju cafes cash only?

Most Jeju cafes accept card, including international cards with chip and pin. Carrying some cash is always wise for very small rural spots, but the cafes on this list are all established enough to take cards reliably.

What is the best season for Jeju cafes?

Any season, but each has its own appeal. Spring brings canola flowers as a backdrop. Summer means outdoor seating with sea breezes. Autumn is peak season for cafes with garden landscapes. Sebil with its pink muhly and Cafe Glencoe with cosmos and camellias are both spectacular. Winter is the quietest and most peaceful time to visit, with the ocean looking dramatically moody and fewer crowds.

We have visited some fantastic cafes in Jeju. While I think you should visit the island to bask in the beautiful natural scenery, you do need to stop for a snack from time to time at least.
