The Gangnam Food Guide: From Handmade Tacos to Buckwheat Noodles

Last Updated on February 20, 2026

Gangnam is well-known for K-beauty treatments and glossy cafes, but there are also some really good restaurants in the area. Between office towers and down quiet side streets are some genuinely great restaurants that locals return to again and again. When I’m meeting friends, these are the Gangnam restaurants I recommend.

This list mixes comfort food, international flavors, and Korean classics, all done well and without unnecessary fuss. From handmade tortillas and old-school American burgers to buckwheat noodles, Thai late-night eats, and honeycomb makgeolli, these spots show a more grounded side of Gangnam dining. If you’re looking for reliable, satisfying places to eat in Gangnam, start here.

Villa Guerrero (비야게레로), Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Korea; mexican food in Seoul, where to eat in Gangnam

Villa Guerrero (비야게레로)

If you’re looking for some of the best tacos in Seoul, then you’ll definitely want to find Villa Guerrero. Considered a more authentic Mexican restaurant than many in the city, they make their own corn tortillas and when it’s time to order, you choose between cuerito (rind), maciza (meat), buche (stomach), and lengua (tongue). Always on the hunt for good tacos, this is my go-to spot on the east side of Seoul. They do get busy, but they’re worth the wait.

Onestar Burger (원스타 올드패션드 햄버거 도곡점), Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Korea; where to eat in Gangnam, best hamburger in Seoul

Onestar Old Fashioned Hamburgers (원스타 올드패션드 햄버거 도곡점)

I was turned on to Onestar Burger by FullBellyTravels when I was writing for Fodor’s about the Gangnam area and boy was he on to something. I’ve had plenty of burgers in Seoul, but this one really does remind me of good ‘ole American goodness. The diner has an Americana nostalgic feel and keep a pretty simple straightforward menu, not trying to overdo the goodness of a good burger.

I find a lot of places in Korea tend to put too much sauce on burgers, overpowering the meat, or they focus too much on trends. This spot serves up the basics in a comforting way with the dill pickle on the side and all. Definitely a reason to head south. I’ve been three times now.

Bongmilga (봉밀가)

Opened in 2014, visit Bongmilga if you want to try some delicious buckwheat naengmyeon soups. The place is busy, but the staff are friendly as they serve up their signature dish, a Pyeongyang-style noodle soup with minari, or water dropwort.

Chef Kwon Hee Sung prepares the beef bone broth for the soup each day and uses local ingredients only. If you can handle it, also order some of their mandu, or dumplings, and their home made sauces as well.

Myeon Seoul (면서울), Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Korea; where to eat in Gangnam

Myeon Seoul (면서울)

The second restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Kim Do Yun, Myeon Seoul serves handmade noodle dishes. Their raw perilla oil noodle dish is also vegan for any foodies looking for a vegan restaurant in Seoul. Their noodle dishes are delicate and delicious, appear simple at first, but are perfectly balanced. I’ve been back a few times after finding it and it always hits the spot.

Tuk Tuk Noodle Thai, Yeonnam-dong, Seoul, Korea

TT Grill (티티그릴)

Tuk Tuk Noodle Thai (툭툭누들타이) was one of the first restaurants that got popular in the Yeonnam-dong district even before the construction walls came down and Gyeongui Line Forest Park (Yeontral Park) opened. The restaurant was definitely one that led to the area becoming well known for good eats and lines would form regularly.

After a decade there, the owners decided to expand and create two brands. They moved to Gangnam (unfortunately for those of us on the west side) and luckily, their dishes a collaboration between a local Korean owner and a chef who is originally from the Issan province in northern Thailand are still just as delicious.

  • Hours: Monday – Friday: 6:00pm ~ 2:00am

Sinsa Jeon (신사전)

This spot became popular because of their honeycomb makgeolli, or rice wine. When you order their house makgeolli, the server will come over with honeycomb, cut some out for each person and put it right in your glass. A good menu of Korean pub food, this makes for a good starter spot to a night out in the Gangnam area and does get popular so go on the earlier side so you don’t have to wait for a table.
