This is the place where Se-ri went paragliding in the first episode, the Byeolmaro Observatory. It’s a large observatory with a basement and four floors above ground, located at the top of Bong-rae Mountain in Yeongwol, Gangwon-do. You can go paragliding during the day and stargazing at night.

2. Aradong History and Culture Trail / Forest of Healing (서귀포 치유의 숲)

This is the forest where Jeong-hyeok encounters Se-ri while on patrol after she crash-landed in North Korea. The scene where Se-ri falls from the tree and is embraced by Jeong-hyeok is very famous. The forest masquerading as a forest in North Korea was actually a forest on Jeju Island.

If you follow the first course, about 4km of Aradong History and Culture Trail, which starts at Gwaneum Temple in Aradong, Jeju City, you can see the big tree where Se-ri was hanging the medallion. It’s just a trail, so there’s no entrance fee or hours of operation. I recommend parking your car in the parking lot next to the temple.

And the other scenes where Se-ri runs away from the forest were filmed at the Forest of Healing in Seogwipo, Jeju Island.

3. Cheongsan Arboretum (청산수목원)

Remember the road Se-ri took back from birthday party with Jeong-Hyuk when she was in North Korea? The scene where they affectionately rode their bikes together was beautiful. The cedar paths of this arboretum were the backdrop for the drama, and in July and August you can see the lotus flowers in full bloom in the pond next to it. There are also beautifully huge pampas in the autumn. Cheongsan Arboretum is a beautiful place to visit in Taean.

The North Korean village that is said to be in the same area is not a real village, but a set that was built for the drama and has already been demolished, so don’t go looking for it!

4.  Binae Island (비내섬)

This is the place where Se-ri had a picnic with the North Koreans before she left. Binae Island is an island in Chungju, where the Namhang River flows, and is a travel spot that is beautifully decorated with reeds and mugwort in the fall. It is famous as a filming location for many dramas and movies not just Crash Landing On You. Cars are not allowed on Binae Island making it even more special to visit. You can only enter the island on foot and choose from numerous walking trails.

5. Commodore Hotel (코모도호텔부산)

In the drama, it is set in a hotel in Pyongyang. Jeong-hyeok and Se-ri visit because they need passport photos. The hotel that looks like a real hotel in Pyongyang because of its classic feel is Commodore Hotel in Busan. It’s a 40-year-old five-star hotel with a classic and modern feel. It is located near Busan Station, so it is easily accessible. If you are traveling to Busan, it would be interesting to see the lobby even if you don’t stay there.

If you go there at night, you can see the rainbow lights just like in the drama. It’s a very romantic place, right? Jung-ang-top Park along Tangeum Lake in Chungju is home to the Chungju Museum, a costume rental shop, and a bicycle rental shop.

There are also electric cruise ships that can take you around Tangeum Lake, so we recommend taking one at night to see the night view of Chungju.

There is a scene where Se-ri and Jeong-hyeok talked about Switzerland before they met in North Korea. This scene was filmed at the Hantan River Sky Bridge in Pocheon. It is a 200-meter-long swaying bridge that offers a panoramic view of the Hantan River Gorge from a height of 50 meters. There are a number of cool things to see in Pocheon just north of Seoul that are worth the trip to see.

8. Yeongjongdo Seonnyeo Rock Beach (선녀바위해수욕장)

The first South Korean sea that Cheol-gang and Jeong-hyeok encountered after their successful escape through a tunnel was Seon-yeo Bawi Beach in Yeongjong island, Incheon. The waves gently crashing against the jagged rocks are a beautiful sight. It is especially famous for the sunset over the rocks.

Seonnyeo Rock Beach is small and near a more popular seaside area in Incheon, but it’s a charming area.
