Wish Formula: The Fermented Hydra Ceramide Lotion & Essential Toner Review

I’ve got a few Korean beauty brands that are my go-to for various reasons and Wish Formula is one of them. While I reach for Troiareuke when I want to clean my face, I reach for Wish Formula when I want to nourish and hydrate my skin. Almost everything I’ve tried from Wish Formula has been great but these two products have by far been the best for my dry skin. I’d never heard of fermented skincare products prior to using these but after, I definitely looked into them more.

The Wish Formula Fermented Hydra Ceramide Lotion and the Fermented Hydra Essential Toner are currently my essential skincare products producing the best hydrating results. I’ve been using these two products for a year now and, it’s official, I can’t go anywhere without them.

What To Know About Wish Formula

Wish Formula is a Korean skincare brand that utilizes fermentation science and natural extracts without chemical processing to maximize active ingredients. Considering fermenting food in Korea is so popular, it shouldn’t be a surprise that a Korean skincare brand is utilizing the well-known process. Fermentation is a process that uses microorganisms, or fungus, to get valuable substances from a material. In cosmetics and skincare products the process strengthens the effects of substances to help them penetrate the skin and increase absorption, maintain elasticity, and increase immunity in the skin.

What It Is: Daily Lotion

The Fermented Hydra Ceramide Lotion is a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer meant to keep skin smooth and well nourished but without the greasiness. This product is said to be perfect for dry, sensitive, and itchy skin. The main ingredients are Ceramide NP, Squalane, Madecassoside, Olive Leaf Ferment Extract, Peppermint Leaf Ferment Filtrate, and Clover Flower Ferment Extract.

Just so you know what some of these are that you might not recognize: Squalane is a lipid that your body actually produces naturally, however as you age, production declines. This ingredient helps to fight the signs of aging. Madecassoside is an active ingredient which has anti-redness and anti-scaling effects that help to produce a smoother appearance in skin. Olive Leaf Ferment Extract soothes and calms skin and is full of antioxidants. And that’s just to name a few.

When To Use: Apply daily. Best used after showering or washing the face to seal in moisture.

My Thoughts: This lotion is lightweight and goes on really well after using the toner. I use them together and find the pairing perfect for my skin. I especially like using this after I shower as well as before I go to bed. I really do notice a decrease in fine lines and wrinkles and my skin feels much more hydrated after use. If I use before bed, I wake up in the morning with well-nourished skin with less fine lines. There is no greasy feeling. There is a slight scent with this product which I find appealing, but it isn’t flowery or overbearing. It’s a pleasant light “fermenty” smell if that makese sense… kind of tangy. I dig it.

Fermented Hydra Essential Toner

What It Is: Toner

The Fermented Hydra Essential Toner is a lighweight, non-sticky formula that protects, moisturizes, and nourishes the skin. The product is supposed to help control acne for healthier-looking skin, strengthens the skin barrier, moisturizes, nourishes, and controls oils in the skin. It activates collagen production and promotes rapid cell regeneration helping to strengthen the skin’s natural barrier.

When To Use: Use every morning and evening after cleansing and before moisturizing.

My Thoughts: This has been my go-to toner for months now… the better part of a year really. While I can’t speak to its effectiveness on acne because I don’t have any and rarely get pimples, I can say it is extremely nourishing and makes my skin feel so supple and lovely after use. It is a watery toner that is absorbed into my dry skin pretty quickly. There’s a slight scent but for me it’s nothing overpowering. I definitely feel that my skin is more supple, nourished, and brighter when I’m using this product. I was recently asked about another toner and said that that particular one wasn’t as good as my favorite. My favorite being this one. As soon as I put this on, my skin brightens. My skin is definitely in love and so now I am too.
