The Shopping Malls In Seoul That Shopaholics Love

It’s practically impossible to visit Seoul, Korea and not plan some sort of shopping spree. I was recently writing a shopping guide to Seoul for the Cathay Pacific Inflight Magazine and decided to expand on it here and focus on just the incredible shopping malls in Seoul.

Whether you’re buying amazing Korean beauty and skincare products or stocking up on Korean food, Korean fashion, or the cutest stationary products in the world, there’s so much to want to take home with you. I visit the shopping malls in Seoul more often for the pop-up events and exhibitions. Suffice to say, there’s a lot to do in these shopping paradises.

Get ready to find the best shopping malls in Seoul, the malls where the shopaholics splurge. From mega malls to smaller local district shopping malls, there will undoubtedly be a place to shop until you drop near you at every turn.

The Hyundai Seoul (더현대서울)

Opened in 2021, by 2023 The Hyundai had already seen 80 million customers. The Hyundai Seoul is the size of 13 soccer fields and while that sounds just gigantic, they’ve designed this mall in such an elegant way as to add a lot of green space and decor so you can relax between shopping spurts.

The glass ceiling lets natural light in and this mall is well-known for featuring the top Korean and international luxury brands. It’s an experience shopping across the 12 floors of stores, stores, and more stores.

Starfield COEX Mall (코엑스몰)

Not only is COEX Mall Asia’s largest underground shopping mall, but it’s where tourists can have fun and get the goods. There are 260 stores and around 100 places to eat (There’s definitely something for everyone.) but there is also an amazing aquarium, the very Instagrammable Starfield Library, and the largest movie theater in Korea.

We often visit to check out the COEX Convention Center as well where they house a number of amazing expos and shopping events annually. Learn about all of the things you can do in COEX Mall.

Lotte Department Store (롯데백화점)

If you’re headed to the shopping district of Seoul, Myeongdong, then there’s no doubt you’ll spot Lotte Department Store. One of the largest shopping malls in the city, it has everything from apparel to accessories and all of the Duty Free goods for tourists too.

There are actually three separate parts of buildings of Lotte Mall and they’re all connected via walkways. You can find luxury goods in one building and head to Lotte Young Plaza, a six floor shopping space with younger styles and goods.

Pro Tip: If you don’t know where to eat in Myeongdong or don’t want to go for a wander, there is a fabulous food court in the basement.

Shinsegae Shopping Mall (신세개백화점)

Shinsegae was the first company in Korea to introduce the concept of department stores. Popular with Koreans, you’ll find all of your favorite premium luxury brands, fashion apparel companies, accessories, and an amazing food hall to top it off.

You can also find the Duty Free shops on floors 8 through 12 and if it’s a bit too much, head up to the rooftop for a rest and a view complete with of N Seoul Tower.

IFC Mall (IFC몰)

A mall on Yeouido Island, you might drive by and miss this one because it’s located on the basement floors of the Finance Center Seoul. Connected directly to the subway, it’s super easy to get to and enjoy. With such proximity to The Hyundai, it’s easy to head there.

While The Hyundai is filled with luxury brands though, IFC Mall has the more accessible and budget-friendly brands so keep that in mind if you want to go shopping in Yeouido.

Lotte World Mall (롯데월드몰)

Head to the Lotte Sky Tower, the tallest building in South Korea, take in the views, and then head to Lotte World Mall just downstairs. There’s plenty of shopping, but also art exhibitions held often which is why we usually head there.

Lotte Duty Free shops, an art museum, a movie theater, restaurants, and of course a ton of your favorite stores are all in one place right near the Seokchon Lake.

D-Cube City (디큐브시티)

Connected to Sindorim Station, this mall also has the D-Cube Theater which hosts plays and musicals and exhibitions. If you have kids, this is also where you can find one of the Pororo Theme Parks.

Times Square (타임스퀘어)

The Times Square is a beautiful space to enter especially during the day where you can take in the largest shopping atrium in Asia. It keeps the floors bright throughout the day.

With all of your favorite local and international brands there is plenty of shopping to do, BUT another reason to head here is because of CGV Starium, the largest cinema screen in the world which is even listed in the Guinness World Record Book. For the kids, visit Zoolung Zoolung. There’s literally something for everyone.

Anyoung Insadong (안녕인사동)

This open-air mall in the heart of Insadong is a newer addition to this traditional district in downtown Seoul. Often hosting markets, the mall itself isn’t as large as the others on this list, but features cute character shops, the Color Pool Museum, and artistic exhibitions, as well as a Monami Concept Store, and great traditional Korean good shops too.

Mecenatpolis (메세나폴리스 몰)

This hidden mall is connected to Hapjeong Station. You can miss it from street level because it’s surrounded by three tall towers. It’s home to some popular local fashion retailers, restaurants, and cafes and it’s popular for photos beneath the umbrellas. It’s locally loved.
