The Busan Rock Festival Rocked My World

Never able to pass up free room and board and backstage passes I went with my husband down to Busan for the annual Busan Rock Festival (부산 록 페스티벌) this past weekend. There are some amazing summer festivals in Korea and this is one of them. Not only one of the top music festivals in Korea, but since it’s free, it’s massive.

What To Know About The Busan Rock Festival

The Busan Rock Festival kicked off in 2000 and is one of hte longest running music festivals in South Korea. It was free for almost two decades but pivoted to charging for entrance as of 2019.

This festival promotes international artist exchanges so look out for popular South Korean favorites, with a heavy line-up of Busan-grown artists as well as international artists.

The Festival Is Massive

Every Single Day has played at this festival before, but the crowd this year was bigger than I’d ever seen and that made it all the more fun. Watching Jae-oo perform for hundreds if not thousands of people is amazing.

Seeing him in his element doing what he loves… no words. There are so few people that are living and doing what they love and being successful. That’s truly sensational to see.

I’m not such a loner backstage anymore as, after attending these festivals year after year, I’ve got a pretty good handle on who’s who and where I can and can’t go now. The same groups of people run pretty much all of the big festivals so once you’ve met a few of the festival managers, you see them over and over again.

That’s good for me, since the first time I was on stage when they played, I wasn’t sure where exactly to be and I stood behind the workers and couldn’t see much. At least now I get right up there and see what I want to see. Then I head out to be with the crowd because the vibes, the feelings and the emotions are all running strong out there.

What I want to see is Jae-oo rocking it and lots of screaming fans. One of these days I’ll just run out there when I get amped up and do a little strut with them. Wouldn’t that be hilarious? Okay, sure. No one wants to see me, but I’d love to hear that crowd roar from on stage just once… even if it’s not for me.

This concert was pretty cool since Hyo-jun their previous drummer, who had to leave due to army service, had a break so he joined them on stage as well as a friend Tae-sung who added some electronics to the mix for a pretty great concert. They filled the stage and the crowd was massive and singing along.
