Isntree: Hyaluronic Acid Sun Gel, Sun Stick and Sun Cream Review

This summer, I got to be apart of a great program with the Korean beauty company Isntree to learn more about them as a brand and try some of their products. I was blown away by some of them and want to share. If you’re looking for some of the best Korean sunscreens on the market, then you’ve come to the right spot.

We’re going to review THREE of Isntree’s sun creams including: the Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel, the Hyaluronic Acid Natural Sun Cream, and the Hyaluronic Acid Airy Sun Stick. I got these from the brand at the start of summer and have been using them every day since. Isntree is ranked one of the best Korean skincare brands for sunscreen on Amazon, FYI. Let’s see why!

Who is Isntree?

Founded in 2009, Isntree is a vegan-friendly cruelty-free Korean skincare brand. They focus on ingredients that are safe for the skin and will bring real effects. In their research, they study functional local green ingredients that can be used on the skin safely but effectively.

They are also on an eco-friendly path. They had a packaging renewal this year so the products look different from years past but are the same great products inside. The renewal was an effort to develop packaging that would be easier for recycling and sustainability.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

If you have dry skin like I do, then you definitely need to look out for more products with Hyaluronic Acid. You’ll notice that all three of these sunscreens promote their hyaluronic acid proudly. Here’s why… Hyaluronic Acid is intensely hydrating and attracts moisture helping skin to be firm and bouncy.

Hyaluronic Acid is used in skincare products as a humectant that grabs water and and keeps it on your skin. To really be hydrating, products with different kinds and sizes of hyaluronic acid are ideal. This hydrating and moisturizing in turn helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and age lines.

What’s the difference between chemical and physical sunscreens?

Physical sunscreens, or inorganic sunscreens and also called mineral sunscreens, create an instant physical barrier between the skin and the sun’s UV rays thanks to the zinc oxide and titanium oxide in the product. Zinc oxide protects skin from UVA and UVB rays and holds up easily against water and sweat but the downside is that they leave a white cast after use.

As a kid, we probably all remember rubbing in our sun screen and how long it took to get it to rub all the way in… or just rubbing it as much as we could and diving into the water. Physical sunscreens are great on kids to make sure you didn’t miss a spot. Actually, another advantage is that they usually cause less irritation to the skin and are good if you have more issues with products.

Chemical sunscreens, or organic sunscreens, work by converting UV rays into heat to protect the skin from damage. Chemical sun creams get a bad wrap as when they were first coming out they were quite irritating. They are better now, but if you have skin concerns, you do you to test first. Chemical sunscreens tend to be much easier to spread and are more comfortable to wear with make up or for daily use and as we all know, you should be wearing sun screen every day to protect your skin.

It’s not only meant to protect skin from the sun but also has a ton of skin beneficial ingredients. It’s been approved as a brightening and antiwrinkle functional cosmetic as well because it has niacinamide and adenosine in it. At SPF 50+/ PA++++, this is a great sunscreen for daily wear. On top of that, there are six chemical filters to protect your skin in this product including:

  • Octisalate – provides UVB protection
  • Homosalate – provides UVB protection
  • Tinosorb S – provides both UVA & UVB protection
  • Tinosorb M – provides both UVA & UVB protection
  • Parsol SLX – provides UVB protection
  • Uvinul A Plus – provides UVA protection

This is the #1 ranked Korean beauty brand in the sunscreen category on Amazon.

When to use it: Apply a moderate amount as the final step in your routine. You can reapply throughout the day if you’ll be in the sun for longer periods.

My Thoughts: Of the three, this is my favorite Isntree sunscreen. The sun gel is lightweight but not overly fluid and has no white cast after use and is really soft and moisturizing. This is really easy to apply and I loved how it felt on. It is super moisturizing, smooth, and blends into the skin easily. The texture is really nice as it glides on the skin and within seconds it’s soaked in. There’s a faint dewy look after use that I like. It’s kind of a summer fresh glow.

There is no aroma that I could detect from this product. I applied this in the morning after my skincare routine and didn’t notice any issues with my foundation at all. I also reapplied throughout the day since it’s not water resistant and I sweat. That wasn’t bad at all though as, again, the sunscreen just glides on so comfortably and is moisturizing. I tend to have dry skin so I absolutely loved how nourishing and hydrating this sunscreen was. I will definitely keep using this.

Where To Buy: You can luckily find this all over including on YesStyle, Amazon, and Stylevana.

Hyaluronic Acid Airy Sun Stick Review

What is it? SPF 50+/ PA++++ Mild Chemical Sunscreen

Similarly formulated to the Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel this product is just more portable and easy to apply quickly and on the go. This sun screen contains 8 types of hyaluronic acid meant to replenish and lock in moisture. There’s also niacinamide for brightening and adenosine to reduce wrinkles along with some other great plant extracts for soothing care of the skin.

Again, this is a product that is about protecting the skin from the sun but also about really hydrating the skin.

When to use it: Anytime, anywhere. Reapply as needed.

My Thoughts: My second favorite sun protection product of the three but my favorite for on-the-go touching up. Firstly, I love how this sun stick is shaped. It’s shaped like a droplet which makes it really easy to apply to the curves of the face and the eye and under eye area. Having one narrow end and one wider end really makes using this sun stick so much easier than others I’ve tried before.

It feels really soft gliding over the skin and doesn’t break or crumble during use. I didn’t notice any white cast during use or any sticky feeling. I used this throughout the day and on my daughter to quickly reapply while we were out and about and found it very convenient. I found the sun stick to be make-up friendly too. I will definitely keep using this.

Hyaluronic Acid Natural Sun Cream Review

What is it? SPF 50+ / PA++++ Physical Sunscreen

This sun cream contains 17% Zinc Oxide, 100% mineral mild sunscreen that is safe for sensitive skin. This sun cream is promoted as having less tacky feeling compared to other mineral sun creams. This is ideal for when you need strong UV protection.

This sun cream is similarly meant to moisturize while protecting and has hyaluronic acid for hydration, inositol for hydration, panthenol to prevent the loss of moisture, and betaine for glowing skin.

When to use it: Apply a moderate amount as the final step in your routine. You can reapply throughout the day if you’ll be in the sun for longer periods.

My Thoughts: I’m not usually a fan of mineral sunscreens. Well, I should say, I don’t use mineral sun creams for daily wear at all. I don’t like the white cast that is left behind or the amount of time it takes to rub it in. However, I do absolutely use sun block when we’re headed to the beach or for a day outside in the sun because… well, skin safety obviously and I won’t miss a single spot when I’m using a physical sunscreen. I will say that this sun cream isn’t as tacky as some others I’ve tried but definitely did have a white cast and a more matte finish than the sun gel above. I didn’t notice any major aroma with this product and I would continue to use it on high sun days when we plan to be outside all day but not as a daily wear product for me.

Hey! Out of curiosity, how did you know the % of zinc oxide in the hyaluronic acid natural sun cream? I’ve been trying to figure that out for a while!!

    • Hallie Bradley

Oh good question. Hmmm.. I was a part of their supporters group this past summer so they gave us all of the information pertaining to the products. If you can’t find it online, that’s weird. I must have gotten it from the packet of info they sent.

  • kosmoderma

That’s most useful information for skin care and I loved the sunscreen product for skin protection from environmental pollution and uv radiation and thank you for sharing
