DIY Keychains & Bags: Why You Should Find Wappen House In Korea
Walk down the street in Myeongdong or Bukchon or in cities like Busan, and you might come across a vibrantly colored shop that is yelling out for you to enter. It’s Wappen House (와펜하우스). Filled with patches of all shapes and sizes and themes from Korean culture to Korean food and topped up with cute animals, letters, and numbers, too, if you just love patches, you NEED to stop in.
It’s not only fun, but it’s also family-friendly and it would make for a great unique Korean souvenir. Take the kids or make something for yourself. You can buy the patches on their own and take them home or the whole kit and kaboodle and get a keychain or back and deck it out in-shop!

The Experience
Though I wouldn’t say it’s the cheapest experience you can have in Korea, it is definitely fun. Finding colorful and cool patches, or maybe cute is your jam, is very fun. Decorating something with them is even better.
Step 1: Pick your product.
Do you want a keychain or bag? After you decide that bit, then it’s time to delve into the many colors of each. The patches may seem like the more involved part, but picking the product is just as cumbersome.
Step 2: Choose your patches.
There are so many patches to choose and they come in a myriad of sizes. The smaller ones cost less and the larger ones, cost more. If you need some inspiration for how things will look all laid out and how to go about choosing, just look at the walls above the products. There are great keychain and bag examples hung everywhere.
Step 3: Arrange your chosen patches.
Once you’ve figured out your theme and chosen your patches, find a place to focus and lay them out the way you want them. There are trays to place everything on.
Step 4: Hand it off to staff.
Once you’ve decided on the layout, head up to the register to pay and hand it off to the staff who will handle the heated press. After ringing everything up, check the placement one more time before the press is used.
It’s that easy and fun. Even if you don’t want the bag or keychain, still walk in and check out the patches. You might end up with a unique Korean souvenir of Korean-themed patches to take home.
