Last Updated on July 13, 2025
Jeju Island is packed with breathtaking outdoor spots, but sometimes the weather just doesn’t cooperate, or you need a break from the intense heat. An aquarium is always a fun stop and thankfully here on Jeju Island we have the best aquarium in South Korea, Aqua Planet Jeju (아쿠아플라넷 제주).
Just a short drive from Seongsan Ilchulbong, Udo Island, and Seopjikoji in the southeastern side of Jeju, Aqua Planet Jeju is the largest aquarium in Korea and ranks among the top ten in the world for marine life diversity. We’re talking over 48,000 creatures and over 500 species, a 6,000-ton main tank, and performances that blend education, culture, and showbiz flair.

Aqua Planet Jeju is the best aquarium in Korea and should be on your Jeju itinerary:

The Shows: Acrobats, Diving, and a Friendly Seal Too
While getting our entrance tickets, the staff told us it was just about time for the next show to begin so they recommended starting there and glad we did. It was amazing and our daughter absolutely loved the high-flying divers who leaped to the water from crazy heights, spun middair, and were in sync with animated light projections. It’s a performance that is equally impressive for kids and adults.

The show wasn’t just tricks and stunts, but it was also telling a story about the local divers in Jeju. Even if you don’t speak Korean, you’ll get a lot from the show that is mostly visual. Be prepared to ooh and aah.
- Showtimes: 10:50am; 12:50pm; 2:50pm; 4:20pm
- Duration: The low lasts about 40 minutes

Experience Programs You Can Join
There are a number of experiential programs that you can join at Aqua Planet Jeju as well as scheduled feeding times which are very exciting to witness. When purchasing your tickets, be sure to see what’s going on at what time so you can be where you need to be for each.
Main Tank Boat Experience: Sit on a glass bottomed boat on top of the main tank listening to information about the creatures you can see below and it ends with feeding some of the excited fish on top.
- This does require an additional fee.
- Available from 10:00am ~ 5:30pm
- First come, first serve. No reservations are possible for this.

Main Tank Meal Time: The main tank has feeding time three times a day. It’s prepared for the large rays so it’s exciting to watch as they feed with their little mouths on their bottom. You will definitely want to see this.
Main Tan Diving: If you want to get really involved in that main tank, you can even go diving down 11 meters into this tank. Definitely an unforgettable experience to see the creatures up close.
- This does require an additional fee.
- Available for ages 12 – 55
- Takes 60 – 90 minutes.
These are just some of the fun programs. Ask what’s going on the day you visit.

A Giant Underwater World, Indoors
Aqua Planet Jeju isn’t just big, it’s massive. The main tank, “The Sea of Jeju”, is twice the size of the one at Aqua Planet Yeosu and more than triple that of Seoul’s COEX Aquarium, both great stops as well though of course. You can spend a whole morning watching sharks, rays, and schools of fish gliding through panoramic glass, which is exactly what we did.

Munseom Tank
The first area after you enter is dedicated to the creatures you can find off the coast of our very own Jeju Island. As we’ve moved to Jeju, we found this area especially interesting so that we know what to look for in our very own ocean waters.

Five Oceans
The next area was the Five Oceans with tanks and creatures from the Arctic Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean, and the Antarctic Ocean. This is a great introduction for what’s to come and the world full of amazing things to see.

Harbor Planet & Penguin Planet
Turn the corner and the kids will be very excited to see some of the more exciting swimmers to watch, round-faced spotted seals and penguins. The penguin planet has little half globes you can stick your head into to get even closer to our flippered friends.

Columnar Joint Tunnel Tank
Taking us down a floor is a sloped hallway that represents the columnar joints that are only seen here on Jeju Island. There are small tanks with some very interesting creatures to find here, creatures that seemingly glow in the dark, and more.

Aqua Safari
The next space feels like a jungle with trees and tanks interspersed showcasing otters, freshwater wish and some pretty odd creatures that bring up a lot of questions and comments.

Fish Ball & Submarine Tunnel
Get ready for the sharks. Watch as 20,000 sardines and fish swim back and forth and this leads perfectly into the tunnel to walk beneath the point where the Fish Bowl meets the main tank. Sharks and rays swim here and there while the smaller fish just try to get out of the way.

The Sea of Jeju
Next you walk into a GIANT space, the main pool with thousands of fish including rare creatures like whale sharks and Manta rays. It’s huge and there are seats to sit and take it all in, though of course, the kids will want to run right up to the glass to peer inside.

Aqua Planet Jeju is a fantastic adventure into the world of sea creatures. It’s very kid-friendly and the perfect place to spend a day indoors that is still attached to the ocean/islandy adventures that can be had in the Hawaii of Korea.
