The Glass Hanok To Find In Hwaseong at the Hwaseong Botanical Garden
When I first saw a photos of Hwaseong Botanical Garden Greenhouse (ํ์ฑ์ ์ฐ๋ฆฌ๊ฝ ์๋ฌผ์) I was awestruck. Like any beautiful greenhouse, it’s all glass and gorgeous, but here, there’s an added and very unique-to-Korea addition, it’s in the shape of a traditional Korean Hanok. If you’ve walked down the Hanok lined streets of Bukchon or visited the Eunpyeong Hanok Village, you’ll know how beautiful a Hanok can be. Now, a gorgeously huge glass Hanok, that is a sight to behold.
We love taking road trips in Korea and finding botanical gardens and outdoor spaces along the way to stop and stretch and Hwaseong Botanical Garden Greenhouse made for the perfect stop on one such trip. There are some gorgeous greenhouses in Korea, and this is definitely one of them.

On top of that, you can stay for quite a bit enjoying the plants and then take a walk up the winding trail to Deunggosan observatory for a panoramic view. It’s a great stop on a road trip in Korea, like I said.
The Four Seasons Garden
This beautiful greenhouse houses stone sculptures that represent Koreaโs major mountains including Seoraksan (์ค์ ์ฐ), Jirisan (์ง๋ฆฌ์ฐ), Taebaeksan (ํ๋ฐฑ์ฐ), and Hallasan (ํ๋ผ์ฐ). Wonder if you could figure out which sculpture represents which mountain?
There are 300 plant species including the unique wish-fulfilling Pearlbush Root and Tree Fern. Take your time and enjoy the lush greenery inside. Greenhouses also make for fantastic destinations in the winter when they’re still warm and cozy inside. Consider it.
Outdoor Flower Bed
Visiting in the summer when we did, we were lucky to find so many blooming flowers. The garden has camellia, azalea, winged spindle, and crape myrtle among other beautiful flowers and greenery. There are a number of paths to enjoy.
Medicinal Plant Garden
There are 20 different kinds of medicinal plants in the medicinal plant garden. If you’re interested in Korean holistic medicine, spend some time here learning about the plants and what they can be used for.
Amusement Forest
If you’re taking children with you, there’s a fun amusement area where there are various things set up for kids to interact with. Playful installations and artwork as well as some more standard play apparatuses, a mini zipline, and slides are set up so the kids can have some play time before you load them back into the car.
