The New Zealand Wine Festival Offers More Fun and Flavor in 2023
The Kiwi Chamber of Commerce is back with the annual New Zealand Wine Festival, welcoming seasoned oenophiles and wine novices alike to join in on the fun in Seoul on May 20th. New Zealand, with its pristine nature and strong winemaking heritage, is known for its quality wines, which have been enjoying record popularity in Korea. Fortunately for us, a variety of the finest wines from more than 25 award-winning New Zealand wineries will be on offer at the festival, in addition to delectable cuisine and fantastic live performances. This is the event in Seoul you should not miss out on.
With this year’s Seoul festivities to be held in Grand Hyatt Seoul’s fabulous poolside and waterfall garden, visitors couldn’t hope for a richer atmosphere. But if you can’t make it to Seoul, fear not! The Kiwi Chamber is also hosting this iconic event in Busan on June 10th. Expecting the largest crowd to date, this year’s festival is certain to be one for the books, so whether you’re headed to Seoul or Busan, be sure to join in on the fun, soak up the spring vibes, and sample some of the most exquisite wines New Zealand has to offer!
We’ve attended for 2… 3… is it 4 years in a row now? And it just gets better and better.

What to Expect This Year
Every year the wine festival offers something unique to visitors, and I spoke to Sunny Myung, Board Director of the Kiwi Chamber and the Wine Festival Project Manager, to see what we can look forward to at this year’s event.
The festival is an annual delight. Is there anything special this year that guests can expect?
Absolutely! The Kiwi Chamber’s New Zealand Wine Festival always offers unique experiences each year under a different theme. This year the theme is “Sustainability in a Glass,” so guests can expect a celebration of sustainability within wine.
In addition to the wine tasting and dining experience, there will be live music performances and other entertainment, creating an unforgettable festive atmosphere.
This year’s festival will be even more exciting as it will be held at the stunning poolside of the Grand Hyatt Seoul, surrounded by their lush Waterfall Garden, and under the concept of “Sunshine by the Pool”. Guests can look forward to soaking up the picturesque backdrop while indulging in premium New Zealand wine and savoring the ultimate outdoor BBQ experience.
What are some new wines that will be available at this year’s festival and why were they selected?
This year, we are thrilled to offer more than 50% new wines that have never been introduced to the festival before. What’s more, the festival will showcase an impressive selection of the finest wines, including famous Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs and Central Otago Pinot Noirs, each with its own unique character, style, and story. Aromatic wines such as Pinot Gris and Riesling from Canterbury and Hawke’s Bay will also be featured. From the full-bodied richness and subtle complexity of the reds to the crisp, refreshing whites, there is something for everyone to enjoy and please every palate.
These wines reflect the unique climate, soil, and geography of New Zealand, a country renowned for its stunning landscapes, friendly people, and exceptional wines. We are proud to share them with our guests at the wine festival.
Everyone Is Welcome
Some people feel a little intimidated by wine-focused events. What would you say to those people?
I would highly encourage anyone who feels intimidated to attend the event with an open mind and willingness to learn and explore.
Our wine festival is geared towards consumers rather than the business side of the wine industry trade, so it’s an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge about wine and meet like-minded people who share your interest.
Most importantly, have fun! Wine is meant to be enjoyed, so take your time and savor each sip. Don’t worry about making mistakes or being judged by others. Embrace the experience and enjoy the opportunity to explore new flavors and make new connections.
So what are you most looking forward to?
Our wine festival is a fantastic opportunity for Kiwis, friends of Kiwis, and wine lovers to come together in celebration of all that New Zealand has to offer.
One of the highlights of the festival will be the introduction of many new wines at our picturesque venue. With the largest crowd expected to date, it promises to be a lot of fun!
Witnessing our guests enjoying themselves with big smiles on their faces and creating unforgettable memories is what excites me the most. So come sip and savour New Zealand wines with us and let’s raise a glass together. I can’t wait to see you all there!
On top of the wonderful food, drink, and atmosphere are the fun photo zones and the opportunities to win some fantastic raffle prizes. Make sure you don’t miss out on one of Korea’s top spring events!
