Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence: My Review Of The Best Sunscreen Out There
The biggest take away I’ve had from the Kbeauty events I’ve been to and the Kbeauty influencers I’ve befriended is that the must use skincare product is sunscreen sunscreen sunscreen. Some suncreens are better than others and it took me a little bit to find my favorite sunscreen and the best sunscreen to wear with makeup but I do believe, this is the one.
The Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence SPF 50 was actually one of the first sunscreens I started using consistently many years ago, tried some others, but ultimately, I’ve come back to it and will succinctly say, this is indeed the best sunscreen in my opinion. Whether it is summer, autumn, winter, or spring, this sun cream really does the trick and feels great going on.

What It Is: Sunscreen
This daily sunscreen has an SPF 50+ and a PA raiting of ++++ which is the highest rating that you can get for UVB and UVA rating. UVB are UV rays that give you a sunburn and UVA are the UV rays that penetrate your deep skin layers and this sunscreen essence contains two filters to guard against these which is just what you need.
A couple years ago I got to go in to get a number of skincare treatments like PRP and even got lasered pointed at my face for all of the right reasons but prior to all of that, they took pictures of my face with a Dermavision camera. It showed a lot of freckles and spots among other things to which the doctor asked, “do you wear sunscreen every day?” Suffice to say, after seeing that, I definitely started wearing sunscreen religiously.
This is a water-based sunscreen that is EWG green grade. Some key ingredients are Niacinamide which is a kind of vitamin B3 which helps with skin brightening and is a powerful antioxidant. Panthenol helps with cellular renewal and is a natural humectant. Adenosine is a soothing agent which helps with anti-aging. Beta-Glucan seeks to stimulate the production of collagen and helps heal wounds, and soothes and calms the skin. Sea Buckthorn Oil helps keep the skin moisturized and supple and has lots of antioxidants like lycopene and carotenoids.
A lot of goodness inside of one bottle. More than just a sunscreen, this product also helps with uneven skin tone and fine lines and wrinkles.
When To Use: Apply 15 minutes before you plan to go outside or expose skin to the sun and is recommended as the last step in your skincare routine.
My Thoughts: This is a light sunscreen that isn’t sticky going on but feels soft. There is no greasiness or white cast after application. My skin actually tends to feel hydrated when wearing. The mixture isn’t runny at all even though it’s called an essence and that might be what you expect to happen. It’s very smooth and easy to spread and absorbs quickly into the skin. There is no scent that I could detect, or a very very faint one if there is.
The sunscreen comes in a large, soft, squeezable tube that’s probably a bit too big for your handbag but just fine if you’re keeping it with your makeup and always makes it into my travel-friendly toiletry bag. There’s a small nozzle tip which is nice for controlling how much is dispensed especially since I have a daughter that likes to deep dive into my products from time to time as well so can never get too much squeezed out before I find her.
While I’ve tried other sunscreens and sun blocks over the years, this is definitely the one I use the most and consistently. It’s easy to use, doesn’t dry out my skin, and in fact makes my skin feel and look better when using.
