Who is Daebak?

Daebak Company, wants to inspire people to discover more about Korean culture even while they’re abroad and can’t travel to Korea. Started in Los Angeles in 2015 under the name SnackFever with just $500 and a dream, a small team banded together to inspire, empower, and united the global Hallyu community.

In 2018, the whole team picked up and moved from Los Angeles to Seoul to offer even more great snacks and even more Korean products as well as offering shipping all over the world directly from Korea. They want to give people the opportunity to experience Korea here, there, and everywhere.

In 2020, they changed their name to Daebak and the rest is history. The company doesn’t just create subscription boxes either, they create them and are well-known for them absolutely, but they also sell some of your favorite K-pop merchandise, K-beauty products, stationary, and more.

What’s inside?

The Daebak Box includes 10 or more items focused on Kpop/drama goods, K-beauty products, Korean snacks, and Korean lifestyle products. The retail price of all of the items would be over $100 if you bought it separately.

What we got:

The summer Daebak box was devoted to the Damyang Juknokwon Bamboo Forest. Meant to cool you off in the summer heat and humidity and promote the bamboo forests and sustainability of the bamboo forests, this box had some great products from Korea.

  • Dr. Noah Toothbrush and Bag: This has been my favorite sustainable toothbrush brand in Korea for awhile. Dr. Noah made the first bamboo toothbrushes fully produced in South Korea and they’re on a mission to stop the use of plastic toothbrushes in Korea and abroad. Great company, great products.
  • Bamboo Backscratcher: A fun little product that is easy to carry, this bamboo backscratcher is adjustable and can relieve any itch. My daughter loved it and my husband did too. Who doesn’t like to itch that scratch?
  • Mini Rattan Bag: A nice woven bag great for your toiletries. My daughter loved this and took it as her own immediately.
  • Bamboo Leaf Tea (현미대잎차): A caffeine-free tea made from Damyang bamboo leaves, take a sip and enjoy the benefits of Korean tea.
  • IIDA Hand Cream: This hand cream will make you feel like you’re walking through a forest. The scent is tree bark and wet grass and is very calming. The hand cream has a high concentration of shea butter to keep hands moisturized but not sticky.
  • TenZero Clear Fit Heartleaf Cream: A great cream from a company I haven’t tried before but am very interested in now, it’s hydrating and contains houttuynia cordata extract for a soothing cooling feel great for the summer.
  • Nongshim Salad Noodles (농심 샐러드누들): A revamped recipe, if you like the cold noodle dishes from Korea, you’ll like this addition to your table. These noodles aren’t fried and are a fresher taste and healthier alternative.
  • BT21 Hoo Gargle: A bit of funny addition, this easy to carry mouthwash comes in either jasmine flavor or rooibos flavor. We got rooibos and my daughter blew her breath in my face right after trying.
  • Kakao Friends Stationary Item: Everyone gets a different item in their box. For this one we got some Kakao Friends tape which immediately went into my daughter’s stationary collection. Korea has the cutest stationary and this is no exception.
  • 1st Look Magazine Volume 237

What’s inside?

The SnackFever Deluxe Box contains 10 to 13 of the trendiest, exclusive, and premium snacks. We were very pleased with what we found in the box especially as we had been abroad from Korea for a month and needed a little Korean kick. My daughter had been asking for dalgona for weeks and lo and behold we had some dalgona snacks. A different kind of Pepero than we’d ever tried, “Crunky Granola” was inside, and a summer favorite Bibimyeon. To say we were happy with the goods is an understatement. There was something for everyone. A little sweet, a little spicy, and some salty snacks too.

The box always contains 1 ramen or 1 doshirak, which is the Korean easy-to-prep meal like tteokbokki.

What we got:

  • Bibimyeon (비빔면): Having been in the US for about a month by the time we received this box, I was so excited to get some bibimyeon in my belly. This was the first thing I went for when we opened the box. A summer favorite, this spicy cold noodle dish is easy to make and pro tip, add a little cucumber, carrot, and hard boiled egg and it’s sooooo good.
  • Dalgona Crackers (달고나 짱구): This was the first thing Ava dove for when we opened the box. Dalgona went viral twice during Covid, once at the beginning as a coffee drink and again after Squid Game. This Korean snack is the crunchy cracker version and it was a big hit in our box.
  • Peach Tart Cookies (플랑): A delicious vanilla cookie filled with peach jam that is sweet and delicious. These didn’t last long in our house.
  • Earl Grey Peach Ade (얼그레이 복숭아 에이드): I appreciated that this drink option was sent in powder form. I’ve had can and bottle forms sent in the mail previously that didn’t fair too well, but just add water, and you’ve got a delicious drink with these. Very travel friendly.
  • Sesame Crackers (하비스트): A simple salty sesame cracker great for a little anju or drinking snack if you’ve got a husband that likes to have a snack with his beer. Something for everyone in this box.
  • Dried Ramen Snack (미니뿌셔): One of my husband’s favorites in the box, this ramen snack is meant to be eaten without cooking. It’s a very flavorful beef taste. Just sprinkle the flavor packet on the noodles, shake up and eat. Easy as that.
  • Cream Cookies (쿠크다스): Delicious butter cookies with some chocolate and vanilla cream. Very soft, very buttery, very delicious.
  • Shrimp Chips (구운새우): Not generally one of my favorites, Shrimp Chips are definitely one of the top Korean snacks to try. If you’ve never tried them, you certainly need to. We usually use these to feed the seagulls on the ferries when we take trips in Incheon haha.
  • Granola Peppero Sticks (빼빼로): Peppero Sticks are a Korean favorite as well and this is one of their newest flavors. This is a white chocolate coated in rolled oat pieces. Not as sweet as some of the Peppero Sticks I’ve tried, but a nice subtle option if you don’t want something too sweet.
  • Lemon Cookies (사브레): Inspired by French flavors, they’re a little sweet, a little lemony, and delicious in the morning or as an afternoon snack.
