Sinduri Beach & Sand Dunes: Where You Have To Go In Taean-gun, Korea
This past weekend I was ready for adventure and found myself in Taean-gun. Taean-gun is one of those easy getaways from Seoul in my opinion. I’ve been a few times because there is plenty to do and see but it’s not too far that it necessitates much effort in planning. That said, I surprised even myself with how beautiful Sinduri Beach (신두리해수욕장) and the sand dunes there were. While there are often crowds and busy hot spots all over Seoul to be seen, I relish finding places where the view is more vast landscape than people and that’s exactly what we found in Chungcheongnam-do on this trip. There is much…

The Latin American Museum To Visit Near Seoul
We have started homeschooling and with that comes the hunt for educational and fun things to do. An advantage of living here in Seoul means there are a ton of awesome museums and centers to visit to learn and have fun. Recently, I stumbled upon the Latin American Cultural Center-Museum (중남미문화원 병설 박물관) in Goyang and was surprised because there wasn’t much information online but it seemed right up our alley. Off we went. There are so many cool things to do with kids in and around Seoul but so much of it isn’t really promoted to foreigners so here is the info if you’re interesting in adding another great…

Iksan, Korea: A Guide For What To See & Do
When’s the last time you took a trip on the KTX in Korea? While you could easily hop on in Seoul and hop off in Busan, there are so many awesome places in between to visit. You could also take a road trip into Jeolla and see some amazing places like the Jeonju Hanok Village in one go. Iksan is an interesting area with some off the beaten path places to see. Go for a weekend or go for longer and visit nearby Gunsan or Jeonju too. Here are the things to do in Iksan and how to get there. Are you ready to take an adventure to Iksan in…

Bucheon EcoPark: A Fun Thing To Do With Kids In Korea
Ever on the lookout for parks, gardens and outdoor spaces near Seoul, I drove by Bucheon EcoPark (부천자연생태공원) some time ago as I was on the way to see the beautiful azaleas that cover Wonmisan Mountain in the spring and made sure to mark it on our map for another trip to Bucheon. Bucheon has some really interesting things to see, with or without kids, like the B39 Art and Culture Space and there’s also an aquarium in Bucheon to check out. For this trip though, we were ready to get outside, see some bugs, some flowers, and enjoy the scenery and the Bucheon EcoPark was great for that. Looking…

Gangjin’s Secrets: What To Do In Jeollanam-do, Korea
There are plenty of places around Korea to take an adventure and some are really hidden. This year has been the year for adventuring to hidden gems in Korea, hasn’t it? Gangjin is a beautiful place to go in Jeollanam-do. I’ve been to and through the area twice and both times in the spring and was lucky to just find the most gorgeous cherry blossom lined lanes with absolutely no traffic nor people. Ever wonder where you can see cherry blossoms in Korea? Literally every where and if you just take a drive to the far reaches, you’ll find cherry blossoms that only you will be enjoying. Are you ready…

Naksan Temple: A Guide To The Seaside Temple In Yangyang-Gun
A few years ago I remember hearing someone remark that Haedong Yonggungsa Temple in Busan was the only seaside temple in Korea. I sat back in my chair and thought about my trip to Naksansa Temple (낙산사) in Yangyang-gun and how it most surely must count as a seaside temple with a pavilion and paths that literally take you to Naksan Beach and waves that splash against the cliffs beneath your feet. There are often signs placed on landmarks on sites here that read the “tallest this”, or the “largest that” and they will be a string of words that are technically correct, but not really true in the way…

Farm Kamille: A Beautiful Garden To See In Taean-gun
Farm Kamille (팜카밀레) is a gorgeous garden in Chungcheongbuk-do that makes a great addition to any trip to Taean-gun. I’ve been to Taean-gun on the west coast of Korea a few times now and each time find something beautiful to see. It’s an area of Korea that is easy to get to from Seoul and makes a perfect weekend away without much hassle. You could easily spend a weekend seeing plenty from the beaches to the gardens and parks. Take a road trip and stop at Ami Museum on the way or in the spring don’t miss the flowers on the mountainside at Yoogibanggaoak and you’ll end up with a…

Yongmeori Coast: What You Need To See On Jeju Island
There are stunning natural wonders to see all over Jeju Island which is why it’s one of my favorite places in all of Korea to visit. On a recent trip, we made it down to Yongmeori Coast (용머리해안), or Dragon’s Head Cliff, and enjoyed quite the afternoon exploring the cliffs, mountains and views that can be had there. Yongmeori Coast is a tourist site on the southwest coast of Jeju Island which is important to note because Jeju Island is large so you’ll want to explore it in quadrants to make the best use of your time. Yongmeori Coast is definitely a must-see on Jeju Island and something you need…

Chuidasun: The Hotel For Tea & Meditation Lovers On Jeju Island
Chuidasun Resort is one of the newest additions to the list of official Wellness Travel Destinations recommended by the Korea Tourism Organization and I got to visit for some tea ceremonies, meditation, and Jeju views recently. If you’re a tea-lover coming to Korea, or a tea-lover heading to Jeju I should say, check out this stay to check in. Jeju is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Korea and though I’ve visited the Hawai’i of Korea four times, I’m still seeing new and amazing places. This is definitely one of the best places to stay in Jeju if you want to visit the east side of the…

The Gimpo Sculpture Park: A Fun Thing To Do Near Seoul
Always on the lookout for nature and artistic spots, seeing anything on that map that possibly melds the two becomes a must-see for me. After visiting the beautiful Anyang Art Park down south, I began searching for other art parks around Seoul and Korea to see what else there was to find and the nearby Gimpo Sculpture Park (김포조각공원) came onto my radar. I haven’t spent a lot of time in Gimpo and generally just pass through as I’m headed to the Gimpo Airport bound or other spots but there are some great things to do in Gimpo and it’s an easy area to get to if you’re still looking…

Ami Art Museum: Stop In Chungcheongnam-do Now
Whenever I plan road trips or a day trip in Korea, I get on my map and find all of the random bits and bobs that I’ve tagged and see if anything aligns. So often the coolest of places are found in the most random of places and then ideally, there’s a restaurant or cafe nearby with food so the trip has an experience, some refreshments, and something beautiful. One of my favorite finds that we’ve now visited a few times when moving back and forth across nearby Chungcheongnam-do is Ami Art Museum (아미미술관). It’s a place that combines art, nature, and there’s a nice cafe to get a coffee…

Yeosu: What To See, Do, Eat & Where To Stay
Popular with Koreans and skipped over by foreigners, Yeosu sits in Jeollanam-do and is so far south that it took me 14 years to get there. Okay, sure, it wasn’t like I wasn’t traveling to other places or literally on a trek to get there for that long. But, it’s one of those cities that has been on my radar for some time. At least as far back as the World Expo which was based there in 2012. Should you go and see all of the cool things to do in Yeosu? Absolutely. Don’t wait as long as I did to take a trip to Jeollanam-do to see this part…

Guide To Gongju: Where To Go, What To See, & What To Do
Gongju city in Chungcheongnam-do, Korea is a hidden gem of a city that has so many historic, cultural, and artistic spots to see that you will want to spend at least a weekend there to see as much as you can. We took a spur of the moment road trip from Seoul a few weeks back to see some of the artistic areas and were surprised to find so many lovely historic and culture places to visit. If you’re looking to head out of Seoul but want a less touristy area, look into Gongju for Korean Hanoks, fortresses, street art, outdoor artworks, and more. Gongju is an awesome spot for…

Gunsan’s Seonyudo Island Is The Escape To Take In Jeollabuk-do
Originally called Gunsan-do, Seonyudo Island (선유도) is one of a few islands that are just off the coast of Gunsan in Jeollabuk-do. There are some really stunning places to go on the west coast of Korea and this area is definitely one of them. Take a boat ride that goes in and around the islands and watch as the sun sets on the horizon. It’s beautiful and fun, and an escape from the city and busier areas that makes a vacation spot a perfect getaway. Take a road trip south of Seoul and head here if you can. You need to experience the island life in Korea. Skip around to…

Suncheon Bay Wetland Reserve: Where To Go In Jeollanam-do
Taking a trip to Jeollanam-do, don’t miss the natural wonder of Suncheonman Bay Wetland Reserve (순천만습지 or 순천만자연생태공원), a world-class wetland located on the southern coast of Korea. Officially certified by the Ramsar Convention and UNESCO, this pristine reserve boasts intact natural coastlines and a diverse ecosystem. One of the most popular places in Suncheon and something that people visiting nearby Yeosu often add to their itinerary, the reserve is beautiful in every season so I’ve been told but is most often showcased in the autumn when the reads are brown and waving in the wind. From rare bird sightings to thriving wildlife, get ready to explore the unique features…

Finding The West Coast Of Korea: Things To Do In Seocheon-gun
Seocheon-gun in Chungcheongnam-do was a recent stop on a fishy tour south of Seoul and I was really pleasantly surprised with the things we found in the area. We were learning more about Korean laver, stopping into the port city of Gunsan, and having lots of fun. There are plenty of things to do in Seocheon and some really beautiful places to see. The area is often overlooked when planning trips to the west coast of Korea since the popular mud festival in Boryeong is just north and the city of Gunsan is just south. For spreading out and having some less popular but no less fun though, Seocheon is…
