Baskin Robbins Madang In Samcheong Is A Traditional Treat

Baskin Robbins back home may look the same from place to place, but one of the fun things about visiting Baskin Robbins in Korea is that they can be quite unique. After the Care Bear-themed Baskin Robbins, our next favorite Baskin Robbins in Korea is the traditional Hanok Baskin Robbins in Samcheon-dong (๋ฐฐ์Šคํ‚จ๋ผ๋นˆ์Šค ์‚ผ์ฒญ๋งˆ๋‹น์ ), actually the first Hanok-themed Baskin Robbins in the country.

Located in the tourist-friendly area near Insadong and Bukchon Hanok Village, it’s an easy Baskin Robbins to add into a Seoul itinerary. Get ready to visit and try their exclusive menu items that pay homage to traditional Korean treats only available here.

The Traditional Hanok Setting

You might pass by this Baskin Robbins because you don’t spot the iconic blue and pink exterior, but keep your eyes peeled and you’ll notice the intricate and beautiful latticework of the windows and beautiful Hanok style. Of course, Baskin Robbins needed to have some of their iconic pink worked into the design and so there is intricate pink string that is weaved from the top of the building to the bottom to create a wall of pink that is rather eye-catching.

Step inside and you can take a seat on the modern wooden furniture pieces. There is also a courtyard to take a seat when the weather is nice.

Signature Menu Items

Madang Soft Serve: There are two options for this soft serve, corn or black sesame. You inject a tube of sesame oil into the icy treat and it is delicious. You can get it in the waffle cone, or a cup, which we went for since it was so hot, I was sure we’d be melting quickly. If you like sesame, you’ll enjoy this soft serve treat.

Madang Sundae: Want to amp up the treat you try, go for the Madang Sundae. You can get black sesame with red bean or the honey butter corn sundae.

Hoddeok UFO: This is one of my favorites. Warm breaded hoddeok outside and inside is a cold scoop of ice cream inside of a layer of mochi. It’s simultaneously warm and cold at the same time and delightful to bite into whether it’s hot outside or cold. It’s confusingly cool to the bite when you get hot and cold at the exact some time. Try it and see what I mean!

Wawa Tteok: It might look like a simple scoop of ice cream with a waffle, but the Wawa Tteok has delicious injeolmi hidden within the waffle. Instead of a waffle that will crack and break into piece, this waffle has a stringy surprise when you break off a piece.

Sweet Pumpkin Sikhye Blast: A signature drink served at this branch, it’s basically a sweet pumpkin rice drink that is topped with yugwa, a glutinous rice snack that is quite the puffy treat. If you don’t like overly sweet things, this is a great option for you.

We love getting a cold treat every now and again and it’s fun to stop into the uniquely themed Baskin Robbins in Korea. Find this one if you can!
