Aprilskin: Artemisia Rice Essence Toner & Squalane Hydra Gel Cream Review
What a hot and humid summer it has been! Since Covid began, I’ve been wearing a lot less make-up, but instead opting for just a nice clean skincare routine to keep that skin bright and supple. This summer, my favorite two products came from APRILSKIN, which was perhaps a surprise, but a very happy one. They were extremely hydrating and just so nice this summer.

Who is APRILSKIN?
APRILSKIN is a K-beauty brand that was founded in 2014 that focuses on creating natural skin care products and cosmetics that renew the skin and create that healthy complexion everyone is after.
What is Artemisia?
Artemisia is also known as mugwort, and is a great product for soothing and refining skin. Artemisia is packed with Vitamin A, which is great for skin renewal and regeneration. It also has Vitamin C which help to brighten and protect skin. Artemisia helps sooth and calm redness and heal acne and breakouts and helps with fine lines and wrinkles.
Artemisia Rice Essence Toner
What is it? Toner
Artemisia Rice Toner is a soothing, lightweight, non-astringent toner that hydrates and firms up the skin without irritating or drying out your skin. Made with pure Artemisia Vulagaris extract blended with rice bran water, this toner is meant to replenish the skin and make the skin look healthy and rejuvenated.
This toner is vegan and cruelty free and it’s free of alcohol, sulfates, parabens, artificial fragrances, gluten, and other irritants.
There are three key ingredients: artemisia, hymagic-4D, and rice bran extract. Artemisia is a superfood that calms, soothes, and heals the skin. Hymagic-4D is extremely hydrating with 4 kinds of hyaluronic acids: hyacross, HA, hymagic-AcHA, and miniHA. Then there is rice bran extract which is a vital source of Vitamin A and other naturally moisturizing proteins. Together they are meant to make the skin luminous.
When To Use: Morning or evening after cleansing
My Thoughts: I didn’t really note any strong scents when I used this toner. This toner is so nice on. It’s light and refreshing. It isn’t a super watery toner but has some more consistency. My skin has loved it this summer and I noticed much more supple skin after use. There is no sticky or tacky feeling after use. It is just very hydrating.
My skin really enjoyed it this hot and humid summer. I read that APRILSKIN also recommends putting this into a spray bottle to spritz the skin. I didn’t do that, but think that would be fabulous too. My skin responded really well to this toner.

Artemisia Squalane Hydra Gel Cream
What is it? Cream
This water-gel cream is meant to soothe and quench dry, irritated skin and doesn’t irritate sensitive skin. There is no alcohol, sulfates, parabens, artificial fragrances, or gluten. The artemisia soothes and calms the skin and helps with eczema. Artemisia is rich in Vitamin E and helps to promote cell turnover and skin recovery.
The squalane in the cream coats the surface of the skin to retain moisture. Squalane promotes the formation of collagen for firmer, plumper skin. There are also 7 types of hyaluronic acids that penetrate the layers of the skin to hydrate it through and through.
When To Use: Morning or evening
My Thoughts: This made my skin SO smooth and velvety. I didn’t notice much of a scent at all when I used this. It feels really lightweight and is a water-gel like texture that easily absorbs into the skin.
There is no greasy or tacky feel after use. I think it is a perfect addition to a summer routine when it’s a bit hotter and humid. I tend to have drier skin and this has been great during the summer though I’m not sure how it would suit harsher winter weather because it’s not as thick as my usual winter creams.
I have used this both in my day and evening routine and it has left my face hydrated and plump. It’s lightweight but really so nice in the hotter months.
