The Seoul Derby: Autumn Edition Recap
The Seoul Derby just keeps getting bigger and better each time I host it. Last year, I hosted it just once and that was the plan this year. However, there were just too many people interested and I was happy to host again if Arielle from Soju4Two was down so hosted again we did. The first one was in the beginning of the summer, as they usually are. If you missed that one AND this one, then get ready next spring and be on the look out! This time around we rounded up the teams at the Malli-dong Plaza near Seoullo. It’s one of my favorite spots with an installation that is…

The Soul of Seoul | Operation High Jinks Recap
This past weekend I hosted an AMAZINGLY fun event called “Operation High Jinks”. A bit Amazing Race missions, a bit Running Man hysterics and a bit scavenger hunt clues, it was a race planned to introduce attendees to Korea of today in a fun way. Not only did teams get to meet local Koreans and cook Kimchi jeon (Kimchi pancakes), they got to meet a local photographer and get a photo, meet some local expat entrepreneurs and more. (This post contains affiliate links, which means I receive a certain percentage of a sale if you purchase after clicking. Thank you for your support.) Finding things unique to Korea like dressed…

The Soul of Seoul | Operation High Jinks
When it comes to summer, all I can think about is getting out and about and having fun. For me, fun includes walking in parks, swimming in the ocean and playing games. I LOVE a good game. I’ve got a competitive spirit but I also don’t think games are just for the kids. Last year, I noticed that there just weren’t events of the get out and about and learn while playing sort. There used to be many years ago, but seems the groups that used to plan adventurous games stopped. So I took up the helm and planned not one, but two scavenger hunts with the help of some…

The Soul of Seoul Tours: The S(e)oul Derby Recap
On July 17th, fourteen teams came together to set the pace and win that race… if they could. The weather wasn’t superb, but the drizzle gave everyone a little push to move and groove and get indoors that much sooner. The teams included expat teachers, Koreans, service people and families looking to do something a little different with their Saturday afternoon. The premise of the event was that The Soul of Seoul Tours would give out a list of scavenger hunt clues which included things like finding someone walking around in a Hanbok, piling into a phone booth, making funny faces, hunting for kimbap and a host of other cultural, quirky and…

Scavenging For S(e)oul: Recap
At the end of last month The Soul of Seoul Tours hosted our first event under the title of Scavenging For S(e)oul. Teams raced from Gwanghwamun through Jongno along the Cheonggyecheon into Bukchon and Gwangjang Market, down to Dongdaemun and eventually turned up at 3 Alley in Itaewon. The teams were provided with 40 clues that took them to specific locations as well as asked them to look for matchy matchy couples, dyed dogs and ajjussis in hiking gear. From culture and tradition to history and fads, everything was covered. As this was our very first event, initially we were just hoping to get 60 people, or just 15 teams.…
