The Parsley Seed Energy Serum By AwakeAsleep: The Best Anti-Aging Serum I’ve Tried

I CANNOT live without this Parsley Seed Energy Serum by AwakeAsleep. Seriously, it might be the first time I’ve ever fallen in love with a serum. My dry skin has found this extremely hydrating and it is definitely one of the best anti-aging serums I’ve found.

If you haven’t heard of parsley serums or AwakeAsleep, you’re probably not alone. I was gifted this product at an event and it was the most intriguing out of the products I received. I mean.. parsley seed in a serum?? What’s that about? While most people think of parsley as a garnish on a dish that they may or may not want to eat, parsley has actually been a well-known medicinal herb for hundreds of years. This is definitely a serum I’ll have in my skincare regime forever more and here’s why you should too…

Parsley Seed Energy Serum Review

What It Is: Serum

The Parsley Seed Energy Serum is an EWG Green Grade product which means it’s considered to have all natural ingredients and it’s safe to use on the skin. It is paraben-free, sulfate-free, alcohol-free, and silicone-free.The color of the product is light green that is completely natural. It contains Italian parsley seeds filled with chlorophyll which rejuvenates troubled skin conditions and keeps the skin fresh. The chlorophyll can eliminate toxins in the skin and help produce a more revitalized look and feeling.

Parsley is naturally rich in vitamin C and beta carotene which helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and it has antibacterial and anti-fungal benefits to balance sebum production. The serum also uses centella asiatica extract which has anti-aging powers, is rich in amino acids and helps boost skin elasticity.

(On the note of centella asiatica, if you like the sound of those properties, make sure to check out SKIN1004’s Madagascar Centella Toning Toner & Ampoule. All the cica, all the benefits. )This serum is meant to help with oil-moisture balance of the skin to solve dryness and tightness issues.

AwakeAsleep even points out that the ORAC score which measures a plants ability to eliminate active oxygen which produces dry, sensitive and wrinkled skin is 74,369. This means that parsley is really good at eliminating the active oxygen in the skin. For comparison, this numer is 64 times more than the score for mugwort and 59 times the score for green tea.

When To Use: Both day and night

The directions highlight that for normal daily care, only a few drops of this are to be used. For a more intensive treatment, you’d want to use 1/2 of the dropper and after spreading and allowing to set, then take another 1/2 of the dropper and massage into the skin until it’s absorbed.

My Thoughts: The bottle is huge, much larger than other serums that I’ve purchased which means the dropper is also much longer than most. This means that when you go to drop on your skin, you’ll have plenty to go around in just one dropper.

There is a subtle parsley and lavender aroma that I find extremely refreshing. I’ve never really taken the time to enjoy the smell of parsley, but this allows me to do just that. It’s an herbal smell that is really quite appealing which makes the experience of using the skincare product very enjoyable. I’ve really enjoyed using this serum at night before I’m going to bed. It’s a very calming and relaxing scent.

This serum is not thick but it’s not watery by any means. When I use the dropper to put it on my face, I still have plenty of time to put the dropper back in the bottle before rubbing it in without it just falling off my face which happens with the more watery serums and ampoules. I find that this serum doesn’t make my skin feel sticky but it is a bit tacky after first application.

In the evening this is perfectly fine. After a few minutes it soaks in and makes my skin feel very moisturized and supple. I tend to have dry skin and this has been really moisturizing. I’ve been using it at night mostly, but have also used it in the morning before applying make-up or when I go completely sans make-up. In the evening, I tend to use more as I have dry skin, but when used in the day, I use a bit less.

It seems to absorb into the skin and produce a continuous hydrating effect throughout the day. It doesn’t disrupt the application of make-up. It’s definitely been my favorite product from the ones I received at the BeautChat event a few months back.
