Cotton Candy Clouds at The Stylenanda Pink Hotel, Myeongdong

Myeongdong is one of the most popular districts in the city of Seoul for shopping. But, between shopping til you drop, be sure to check out the cool cafes in picturesque facades in Myeongdong too.

The striking pink exterior of Stylenanda’s third flagship store which was opened in the bustling shopping district of Myeongdong in Seoul’s city center screams to anyone passing by that they’ve just got to enter. Even if you’re not into Stylenanda’s cosmetics or apparel, you’ll appreciate this themed building from bottom to top if you liked the film it’s based on.

How To Get There

Myeongdong is not only a great shopping district, but for tourists, Myeongdong is a great place to stay. It is centrally located, has plenty of restaurants and cafes, and easy to get in and out of to anywhere you want to go.

Address: 37-8 Myeongdong 8-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul (서울 중구 명동8길 37-8)

Directions: Go out of Myeongdong Subway Station, exit 6 and turn left down into the main shopping street of Myeongdong. On the second street/alley, turn right and the Stylenanda Pink Hotel will be on your right.

What To Expect

Paying an homage to Wes Anderson’s movie The Grand Budapest Hotel, each floor of the Stylenanda Pink Hotel (스타일난다핑크호텔) showcases different themes and areas with a 1950s vibe that clearly came straight out of the film. Upon entrance, take note of the wall of keys on a concierge like desk to the right. Walking past that is a hotel like reception desk that serves as the cashier center for all purchases.

The first floor features the cosmetics of Stylenanda. At the back of the store, you’ll notice there is a golden elevator straight out of the movie. Since the floor is five stores, I suggest taking the elevator up to the top to enjoy the cotton candy and coffee treats before taking the stairs down and stopping on each floor to catch the themed vibes. Up up up we go for cotton candy delights and pink pool fun!

On the fifth floor is a small cafe known as the Pink Pool Cafe. Here you will find Stylenanda’s take on cutesy coffees. I had seen some photos with coffees and seemingly clouds floating over them and just had to see them for myself.

There are a few options for their signature drink: coffee with a cotton candy cloud, smoothies with clouds and ice creams with clouds too. There are also other normal drinks to order and healthy alternatives. But let’s be honest, if you go here, you want that cotton candy cloud aesthetically pleasing drink, right?

The walls are lined with white and blue tile to make you feel as if you’re in a pool… sort of. The pink metal chairs and tables with umbrellas above are straight out of a 50s friendly backyard pool party. Take note, there is also a sixth floor that is on the rooftop where you can go as well if the weather is nice. Picture white and pink oversized pillows to lounge on. Not exactly the easiest to drink a coffee with a cotton candy cloud, but obviously just for photos.

The fourth floor also features Stylenanda apparel but the theme is switched up and showcases the laundry room of The Grand Budapest Hotel. The washers and dryers are actual washers and dryers and not just exteriors to look at. They open up and there are more clothes inside of them. The washers and a wall lined with detergent boxes is another photo zone for customers just in it for the pictures.

Back to this cafe at hand, the third floor is where the “hotel rooms” are. Remember, this is NOT really a hotel. One of my companions was very confused about the name and couldn’t reason why there weren’t actual rooms for people to stay in here. This is a themed shop and not actually a place to stay the night though it may look like it.

On this floor is apparel and the “hotel rooms” sit along a carpet lined corridor. The rooms are actually fitting rooms to try things on. They also have events here from time to time so the rooms may be used for other things as well. Sit on the plush sofa at the end and take more photos or try on some of the very fancy schmancy shoes sitting around.

The second floor is the bathroom/spa of the floors. A long line of mirrors and marble sinks (which I imagine aren’t actually working) line the center of the space. This grand “bathroom” will give you thoughts of glamorous theater or celebrity like huge bathrooms.

At the end is a very popular bathtub with rose petals floating in it and a neon sign above. This is a pretty big photo-op for the store, so if you want a pic, get in and out as quick as you can.

From this floor you can also really take in the floating bed and chandelier that is above the tall atria of the ground floor. The whole design of the place is very aesthetically pleasing but has some quirks and fun things that perfectly fit into a Wes Anderson film.

I love that movie and its great to see a shop that was influenced by such a quirky theme. Though I’m a health conscious eater/drinker, the cloud coffee looks so airy and unique. Who needs sugar, when you cafe Cotton Candy as your snack.

I love The Grand Budapest Hotel so I would’ve loved to see all this 1950s related stuff in person. Haha- this reminds me of this Droog Hotel in Amsterdam. It’s technically a hotel but there’s only one room.

I love Wes Anderson so this place is right up my street. I love the quirky interior. Seoul has so many cool places and I’m up for a few days at the end of this month! Will definitely add this to my list of places to check out! ?

I love the merchandising of Style Nanda and I love Wes Anderson! I wish this store was open while we were still in Korea! I only have ever been to the Style Nanda in Hongdae and was mesmerized by their displays. It took me back to my old fashion days!

I love the concept of their store! It indeed looks like a hotel and I wish it was!
I would love to stay in that pink bathtub.
I have bookmarked this place for my trip to Seul.

This looks like such a fun hotel to stay at! I can’t believe you get a cotton candy cloud with your coffee! So cool.

To be clear, this is not a hotel. It’s a store themed after The Grand Budapest Hotel movie hence the name. It is cool but you can’t actually stay there.

OMG! How freakishly adorable! I love Wes Anderson so this is a shop that I would LOVE to visit. My husband would probably roll his eyes at me the whole I strolled through it saying, “Isn’t this cute?!” Haha! Thanks for sharing! Xx

    • Hallie

My husband would probably do the same. Definitely geared more toward the female shopper but stop there, and then head with him to the Adidas store that’s across the street and you’d be good to go! haha

  • Sally

This place is so cute! I would be walking around with my camera out the whole time if I stayed there. It is certainly one of the more unique hotels I have seen before.

It’s not a hotel just to be clear. It’s a shop that is themed after The Grand Budapest Hotel movie so hence the name. But it is super cute and fun to walk around in. ^^
