Autumn Flowers are in Bloom!
The blooms haven’t stopped. Don’t let the cool breezes fool year, there are still flowers aplenty at parks around the city.
We headed back to Nanji Stream Park for a picnic and a flower hunt this past weekend. While there were loads of people lined up to catch a ride up to the more famous Sky Park in the vicinity hoping to enjoy the autumn stalks, now is the time to really head to Nanji Stream Park. Sky Park won’t really be worth it for all of the fall glory until late October and November.
There are two rather large plots of flowers sitting near the pond that dominates the park along with the massive field that school groups and friends come to fly kites on or play games on. Of the two plots, one is currently in bloom with cosmos and sunflowers. The other plot seems to have been planted just a bit later and probably won’t be in bloom for another week or two which is perfect because you can take your time getting over to the park and you’ll still be sure to see these autumn bloomers.
Even though it was Saturday, there weren’t crowds at all which is pretty stunning when discussing large plots of flowers in Seoul. The babe was pooped from all of the fun but that didn’t stop me and my lady friends from enjoying the colors that autumn is producing. Soon the whole park will be colorful with red, yellow and purple leaves too so whether you can make it soon for the flowers or just a bit later for the foliage, it’s a great area to enjoy. This park is apart of five that make up World Cup Parks and they all have something just a bit different to offer visitors to the area. Come to Mapo-gu and see which of the five is your favorite.
