Bucheon EcoPark: A Fun Thing To Do With Kids In Korea
Ever on the lookout for parks, gardens and outdoor spaces near Seoul, I drove by Bucheon EcoPark (부천자연생태공원) some time ago as I was on the way to see the beautiful azaleas that cover Wonmisan Mountain in the spring and made sure to mark it on our map for another trip to Bucheon. Bucheon has some really interesting things to see, with or without kids, like the B39 Art and Culture Space and there’s also an aquarium in Bucheon to check out. For this trip though, we were ready to get outside, see some bugs, some flowers, and enjoy the scenery and the Bucheon EcoPark was great for that. Looking…

Tea Therapy (티테라피) is one of those wonderful spots I visited some months back on a stroll in the area. If you like tea or you just want a lovely place to take a break near the Bukchon Hanok Village, this is most certainly a spot to get on your list. Looking for a tea house in Jongno? Chuidasun: The Hotel For Tea & Meditation Lovers On Jeju Island
Chuidasun Resort is one of the newest additions to the list of official Wellness Travel Destinations recommended by the Korea Tourism Organization and I got to visit for some tea ceremonies, meditation, and Jeju views recently. If you’re a tea-lover coming to Korea, or a tea-lover heading to Jeju I should say, check out this stay to check in. Jeju is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Korea and though I’ve visited the Hawai’i of Korea four times, I’m still seeing new and amazing places. Things To Do With Kids To Celebrate Chuseok: Arts, Crafts, & Cooking!
Chuseok, or the Korean Thanksgiving, is a national holiday that is celebrated in Korea. Families everywhere migrate across the country to head to their parents’ or grandparents’ home to partake in a feast to thank ancestors and remember those that came before. It’s a special time and for traditional families like mine, we hold Jesa, an ancestral rite, eat, and then play traditional games together when we head to Busan. Some years we just stay in Seoul though too and there’s a lot to do for Chuseok even when we stay in Seoul. If you’ve got kids, here are some things you can do with kids for Chuseok. If you’re…

Pet Friendly Hotels In Seoul: The Best Places To Stay With Your Dog In Seoul
Seems like everyone has a pet these days which seems like a bit of a new phenom in Korea. I still remember when we got out cats more than a decade ago and older Koreans would tell me cats were NOT good house pets and shouldn’t be kept inside. Whether it’s cats, dogs, or a hedgehog, more and more people are jumping into pet owning and loving. While it may seem like a trend of sorts though, I would be remiss if I didn’t remind any would-be pet owners that owning a pet is not something you should do on a whim and it does cost money. They will become…

Alpaca World Korea: How To Get There From Seoul & What You’ll See
We took an adventure from Seoul out to Alpaca World (알파카월드) at the beginning of spring this year and the chilly weather now in the autumn has me remembering it. Pictures of alpacas swarmed my Insta last autumn and I saved the spot to wait until it got warmer for us to go. Yes, there are indeed alpacas in Korea and they’ve come all the way from Australia. Are the alpacas in Seoul? No, but close enough. Do you want to go to Alpaca World? You’ve come to the right place. If you’ve got kids in Seoul and want to find some more spots to introduce them to animals and…

Dream Park: The Flower Park Near Seoul You Have To See To Believe
I’ve now been to Dream Park (드림파크) in Incheon, just outside of Seoul, three times. It’s a difficult spot to explain with some quirks but it is also home to an amazing flower park that is relatively unknown and quiet most of the year. If you can get there, it’s worth the trip especially in the autumn, but we found some beautiful flowers in the spring in Korea the first time we managed to find the park so there’s that. Each autumn in Korea, it’s a rush to find all of the flower fields and autumn blooms as well as fall foliage as it bursts into color. From forests to…

The Coolest Rest Stop In Korea Has An Illumination Theme Park
I’ve been in Korea for thirteen years and been driving for six of them. I’ve been on buses that pulled off at rest stops and pulled off at many on my own road trips and up until this month, I didn’t know there could even be a “cool” rest stop, but there is. Generally, rest stops in Korea feature a large cafeteria space with tables and chairs to eat food from one of multiple fast options. There is a convenience store and large bathrooms. There are also a few coffee shops too, but that’s about it and that’s pretty standard. You don’t really need much more out of a rest…

Paradise City Resort: THE Hot Spot Near Incheon International Airport
Recently, I had the privilege of heading out to Paradise City Resort in Incheon, a luxury hotel and resort here in Korea, to write an article for Forbes Travel Guide. I was blown away by the new art and entertainment resort near Incheon International Airport. I had actually gone out to the stunning resort last year but didn’t even go inside. You might ask how, but at the time I was just there to check out some of the amazing architecture… which I’ll get to in a bit. After finally going in to the stunning five-star resort not far from Seoul, Korea, now a few times, I can honestly say…

Ulleung-do: A Guide To The Secret Island You NEED To Visit In South Korea
Set 120 kilometers off the eastern coast of South Korea, Ulleung-do, or Ulleung Island, is about as off the beaten path in Korea as you can get. While plenty of people know of the island, it’s not the easiest place to get to and many people just don’t have the time… and you’ll need some time. If you do get to this remote island only accessible via ferry, you’ll be delighted with karsts rising from the emerald blue seas, towering lush green mountains and island life rarely seen in Korea. Brave the erratic weather that surrounds the secret island and you will be rewarded with views for days and a…
